The first-ever couple to get married on "Today" celebrated their 20th anniversary with a heartwarming tribute on social media. The lovebirds were luckily selected to celebrate their love during a live segment of the show.
When couple Peter and Melanie Ginsberg tied the knot in front of a studio audience two decades ago, little did they know that their love journey will be celebrated by the world.
The Ginsbergs, who were the first couple to get married live on the "Today" show, recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.
Peter commemorated the milestone with a throwback photo of them on their special day as they shared a kiss by the studio's staircase. The lovebirds looked so in love on the wedding day, and it seems it has remained that way ever since.
The "Today" show has had a host of weddings over the years, telling the stories of ordinary couples with an extraordinary love for each other.
In the caption of his heartwarming photo, Peter described their wedding as the "best day of my life." He called his wife the best person and bragged about how she managed to steal his heart. He continued:
"I am forever grateful to you for sharing your life with me. I love the life and family we built together. You are the one. I love you with all my heart."
He concluded the moving tribute by wishing Melanie a happy anniversary before calling her a wonderful mother, beautiful wife, and best friend. The touching post received hundreds of likes from friends and loved ones of the couple.
Peter and Melanie were the lucky ones selected from almost 1000 couples to celebrate their love during the "TODAY Ties the Knot" special. Speaking about how the ceremony shaped their union, they said:
"It was a great way to start the journey that day. It does grow sweeter with time."
Since their nuptials in 2000, Peter and Melanie have welcomed two wonderful children, Jack, 17, and Emma, 15. The "Today" show has had a host of weddings over the years, telling the stories of ordinary couples with an extraordinary love for each other.
In 2016, Kaitlin Roseman and John West walked down the aisle to the melodious voice of Andy Grammer. There was also the wedding of Melissa McMillin and Jeremy Gebhardt, who had been apart for years due to the latter's tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, in 2010.
LaDonna Bradford and Darnell Suggs got married on the Rockerfella Plaza while former athletes Nick Cordes and Leigh Daniel sprinted down the aisle in a fun ceremony.
The Ginsberg's 20th wedding anniversary comes after KDKA-TV News anchor Paul Martino finally tied the knot with his girlfriend after postponing their day due to the pandemic.
The beautiful ceremony was held at the City-County Building, and to the couple's surprise, Mayor Bill Peduto officiated the wedding. It was undoubtedly a lovely affair.
