DWTS Fans Share on Social Media How Much They Miss Ex-host Erin Andrews during Season Premiere
Season 29 of “Dancing with the Stars” premiered on Monday, September 14, 2020, with Tyra Banks as the new host. People on Twitter were not pleased with the change.
For years, “Dancing with the Stars (DWTS)” was co-hosted by Erin Andrews, 42, and Tom Bergeron, 65. On July 13, 2020, Bergeron shocked fans of the show when he tweeted that he was let go after being on the series for 15 years.
He had been hosting the celebrity dance competition since 2004. However, he took the news in his stride and shared how grateful he was to have had the career and the opportunity to forge friendships.
TOM TAKES FIRING LIGHTLY
Bergeron also joked about not knowing what to do with the glitter masks he’d allegedly accumulated for the new season. Andrews also wrote her own statement explaining that she wasn’t returning as well.
Another DWTS fan complained about Tyra Banks talking about herself and noted that she missed Bergeron and Andrews.
She explained in her post that she’d miss being on set even though she didn’t walk well in heels. ABC revealed that they made the changes because they were trying to go in a new and different creative direction.
@ErinAndrews Eight minutes into DWTS and I’m already not feeling it without you and Tom . . . Also NO LEN!!! WTH!!!— Kelly McVicker (@KenzKatMom3) September 15, 2020
FANS DISPLEASED WITH DWTS
However, on Monday, fans of the show took to the comments on Twitter to lament the loss of Andrews and Bergeron. One fan wrote:
"Erin Andrews, eight minutes into DWTS and I'm already not feeling it without you and Tom.”
Another fan tagged Andrews in their tweet and declared they wouldn’t be watching the show because of her absence. Someone else felt Tyra Banks was “SUPER PROBLEMATIC, she is also extremely annoying” and also threatened not to watch DWTS anymore because she already hated the new format.
ABC put Banks as the new host for the dance competition. Another DWTS fan complained about her talking about herself and noted that she missed Bergeron and Andrews.
I’ve watched @DancingABC with @emilyursula since our early years of grad school. Tyra Banks replaced Erin Andrews 🤯⁉️and I already hate it as much as I expected. Besides being SUPER PROBLEMATIC, she is also extremely annoying. This may be the end of the watching streak. #dwts— Dr. Rebecca Kreitzer (@rebeccakreitzer) September 15, 2020
HOW ERIN WAS FIRED
On September 1, 2020, Andrews confessed to “Extra” that she was let go via a phone call. She revealed that the firing came to her by surprise and she knew when she picked up that it wasn’t going to be good news.

PETA SHOCKED BY HOST’S FIRING
After Bergeron and Andrew’s exit news, DWTS professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd spoke to “Us Weekly” about the change. She confessed that she was shocked by the dismissal and taken off guard.
TYRA REPLACES CO-HOSTS
In both the co-host’s places, Banks was put as the sole replacement. She is well-known as a supermodel and the host of “America’s Next Top Model.”
