"Grey's Anatomy" star Debbie Allen turned on the nostalgia and delighted her fans by sharing a rare photograph from her heydays, looking absolutely gorgeous.
70-year-old Debbie Allen gave her fans a glimpse into her past by sharing an old, throwback snapshot where she is seen reading a book while posing for the camera. In the photo, the famed dancer gives a subtle smile to the camera as she looks over her reading glasses.
The image also sees Allen sporting a short hairdo as she flaunts a beautiful yellow top matched with a pair of white trousers. She further accessorized herself with silver bangles for her wrist, giving her a stylish presence for the camera.
The adorable snapshot also sees Allen relaxing by the swimming pool, reading a book. She elaborated in the caption that she was reading “Forced into Glory” by Lerone Bennett when Matthew Jordan Smith snapped her.
The 1983 Golden Globe Award winner further joked in the caption to her Instagram post by asking her followers to stop scrolling her news feed and to read a book. She wrote:
“Stop scrolling and go read a book!”
AGE IS JUST A NUMBER
At 70 years of age, Allen is going stronger than ever. She claimed in a recent interview that she is happy about her age and doesn’t wish to be any younger.
“I wouldn’t want to be 20 right now for anything in this world,” she told Oprah Magazine. She advised women to embrace themselves and their age in order to retain their energy and enthusiasm.
She took a keen interest in dancing ever since the age of three.
HER FAVORITE THINGS TO DO
Allen further opened up that it is hard for her to find time for herself. It was the one thing she wished she had more of. Since time can fly by really fast, she wants to do more of those things that she really enjoys.
One such thing, Allen mentioned, was reading a book. She detailed that some of her favorite books were “The Aztec and Maya,” “The End of Alzheimer’s,” and “Children of Blood and Bone,” which was gifted to her by Kobe Bryant before his demise.
THE JOY OF FAMILY
Allen also revealed that her granddaughter, baby Shiloh, has been the biggest joy ever since she came into the world. Shiloh is the first child of her daughter and her first grandchild as well.
Earlier this month, Allen also opened up in another interview that she might soon become a grandparent for the second time. The veteran actress revealed that her daughter is due in December.
Born in Houston, Texas, in 1950, Allen is the third child of famous Pulitzer-winning poet, Vivian Ayers. Ever since she was a three-year-old baby, she took a keen interest in dancing.
Time passed by and her love for the art only deepened. By the time she reached five years of age, her parents enrolled her in dance classes as she showed determination to become a professional performer.
