Carrie Underwood celebrated National Boyfriend Day even though she’s been happily married to Mike Fisher for more than ten years, and for one crucial reason.

The couple dated for two years before they tied the knot, and to the famous country singer, its an era her heart made it’s home ever since, as she recently shared.

UPS AND DOWNS

Following their Georgia wedding on July 10, 2010, Underwood and Fisher enjoyed continued success and happiness in their lives, until after Underwood gave birth to their first child.

The couple welcomed Isaiah to the world in 2015, but every pregnancy after that resulted in miscarriages, which left the pair devastated. Four years later, Underwood gave birth to their second son Jacob.

The novel coronavirus pandemic brought life as we knew it to a halt, but while adhering to quarantine guidelines brought challenges along with it, it gave her priceless time to spend with her two young sons.

“So it’s been really great to just really get to know them and watch them grow — especially Jake,” Underwood explained. “It’s such a critical time in his life, and I’m never going to get it back. So we’re just trying to enjoy it.”

GRATEFUL FOR HER PARTNER IN LIFE

All the extra time also meant more to spend with Fisher, grateful for their “incredible” life together. In tribute to their 10th wedding anniversary, Underwood posted a throwback image of them along with a message to their young selves.

“Believe it or not, someday you both will become (slightly) less awkward, you’ll grow up to have pretty cool jobs,” Underwood gushed. “You’ll meet backstage at some girl’s concert, fall in love, get married, have two amazing boys, and live happily ever after!”

LIKE IT WAS YESTERDAY...

The couple started dating in 2008, and on December 20, 2009, Fisher and Underwood became engaged. However, to Underwood, it feels like no time had passed, as she wished Fisher a happy National Boyfriend’s Day with a sweet snap:

Last year Carrie Underwood started working on a holiday album, and due to the pandemic, she could finish the album she decided to title “My Gift.”

However, the singer’s 5-year-old son Isaiah also made it onto the album, as he features on Underwood’s rendition of the “Little Drummer Boy.”
