Back in February, the network renewed the series for a fourth season, ahead of the premiere of its third season that ended on a major cliffhanger, sending some fans into an online frenzy.

The filming for the upcoming season was postponed by a few months because of the current global crisis. However, filming picked up shortly before the finale of season 3 was aired.

In August, the filming location for the series, Chief Joseph Ranch, posted a photo on Instagram that shows the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch entrance. The image was captioned with "Welcome to the first day of filming for Season 4!"

According to Chief Joseph Ranch's page, all filming for the Season 4 of the show will occur in Montana. It noted that the cast and crew would be following strict social distancing guidelines.

No release date for season 4 has been declared at this point. However, the series' avid viewers anticipate the upcoming season's start in June 2021 because the previous three seasons all started in June.

Meanwhile, award-winning actor Kevin Costner, who plays John Dutton in the series, also offered a look at the upcoming season in his Instagram post earlier this month.

Costner uploaded a picture taken at the Dutton ranch. In the photograph, the actor is seen in character as John Dutton, who controls the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch.
