Power couple Magic and Cookie Johnson shower Samuel L. Jackson's wife, LaTanya Richardson with praises and sweet words as they commemorate her birthday with touching tributes on Instagram.

Magic and Cookie Johnson are super proud to have a friend in Samuel L. Jackson and his wife LaTanya, and they don't ever shy away from letting the world know.

Yesterday, the power couple each took to social media to pay tribute to LaTanya on her 71st birthday with a series of lovely photos. Doting friend, Cookie went first and uploaded a playful image of her and the celebrant outdoors.

The duo was seen by the lawn area of a house with Cookie wearing a colorful wrap dress and amber sunglasses as she stood beside the plants. LaTanya was perched on a pavement, standing above her friend and dancing happily with a wide grin.

She donned a causal flower print beach shirt with jeans with her natural hair wrapped in a scarf. The touching image was captioned:

"Big shoutout to my Bestie @ltjackson_ Happy Birthday. I pray you have a beautiful blessed day and an amazing year, love ya."

The basketball legend also shared a tribute of his own with a group photo of both couples during an outing. In the accompanying caption, he wished LaTanya a happy birthday and urged her to keep being healthy and blessed.

During a recent appearance on "The Graham Norton Show," [LaTanya and Samuel] got into a playful rift when the actor recounted that he didn't officially propose to LaTanya.

The birthday girl and her husband have been happily married for 40 years, serving as a role model for a blissful and fulfilling marriage. Their love story goes as far back as the '60s when LaTanya and Samuel crossed paths in college.

The "Django Unchained" star attended Morehouse College with the hopes of getting a degree in marine biology, but after joining the theatre club, he switched his major.

Coincidentally, LaTanya was a theatre major at Spelman College, her now-husband's institution's sister school. They both began dating, and after graduation in 1972, they went to New York to pursue their careers. They tied the knot in 1992.

During a recent appearance on "The Graham Norton Show," the duo got into a playful rift when the actor recounted that he didn't officially propose to LaTanya.

"The Raising in The Sun" star, however, disagreed with his story, saying that Samuel proposed when she told him that he needed to. In their 40-year-marriage, the duo has cited mutual respect and not going to bed angry as the secret to their longtime union.

In a similar vein, Magic and Cookie Johnson have exemplified marital excellence with about 29 years of marriage. The lovebirds have been through a lot of ups and downs, especially with Magic's HIV diagnosis, but through it all, they have remained strong and by each other's side.
