Meet Australian Actress Miranda Tapsell — Inside Her Life, Marriage & Career
Miranda Tapsell, best known for portraying Martha Tennant in “Love Child,” is an Aboriginal Australian actress who grew up in the middle of a National Park.
Miranda Tapsell was raised in the small town of Jabiru, located in the Kakadu National Park, a protected area in the Northern Territory of Australia.
During her time in Jabiru, she learned about the Larrakia and Tiwi cultures and realized that she really loved performing. Unfortunately, she noticed that not many indigenous people were actors.

MIRANDA TAPSELL’S CAREER
If that wasn’t bad enough, Miranda, 33, also realized that there was mostly a negative narrative surrounding indigenous people. Despite all that, she attended and graduated from Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art.
In the early-2010s, she started getting some roles in TV shows and movies, including “Magical Tales,” “The Sapphires,” and “Black Comedy.”
Tapsell’s career skyrocketed in 2014 when she started portraying Martha Tennant in “Love Child.” She took home two Logie Awards for Best New Talent and Most Outstanding Newcomer for her incredible performance. About working on the show, she said;
“I’m really grateful for this opportunity because it’s something that the aboriginal actors before me […] have been pushing for decades.”
Then, in 2019, Tapsell proved that she is a triple threat by co-writing, producing, and starring in “Top End Wedding” opposite Gwilym Lee.
To write the film, she and her friend, Josh Tyler, combined their love for romantic comedies, Darwin (the capital city of the Northern Territory of Australia), the Tiwi Islands, and the Top End of Australia’s Northern Territory.

MIRANDA TAPSELL’S HUSBAND, JAMES COLLEY
As per Tapsell’s love life, she has been married to James Colley, a writer, since December 2018. She explained that they met each other on Twitter after Miranda stumbled upon his profile and noticed he was joking with some of her friends.
The actress was attracted to his profile picture, so she followed him. After that, they spent months talking through private messages until they finally met in person in Melbourne.
Colley and Tapsell, who got engaged in January 2018, tied the knot at Panorama House in Sydney. The actress is not shy when it comes to talking about her man as she once told Stellar Magazine that she enjoys being her wife, as per the Daily Mail.
She also admitted that Colley does as much as he can to make her feel safe and happy. At the moment, Tapsell is working on “Doctor Doctor” and is expected to appear in “The Dry.”
