The news of the 90-year-old's passing was shared by his son, Jason Connery, who revealed that his father died surrounded by his family in his home in the Bahamas.

HONORED BY HIS PEERS

Henry Winkler followed Jackman's example and remembered the late actor as one of his acting heroes and someone he learned a lot from, going as far as thanking him for the lessons.

Connery was, in fact, an example to be followed within the film industry, as he set the path for several of his colleagues. Sam Neill, who starred in "The Hunt for Red October" with Connery, said:

"Every day on set with #SeanConnery was an object lesson in how to act on screen. But all that charisma and power - that was utterly unique to Sean. RIP that great man, that great actor.”

FROM BOND TO BOND

Daniel Craig, who took over the role of 007 in 2005, honored him by saying that the Connery "defined an era and style and that his wit and charisma could be "measured in megawatts." He added:

"He helped create the modern blockbuster. He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. Wherever he is, I hope there is a golf course."

Aside from the role of James Bond, which he played in seven films, Connery also starred in flicks such as "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," "Highlander" and "Murder on the Orient Express."

So far, Connery's official cause of death is yet to be revealed, as well as the plans for the funeral service.
