David Alexis still gives his wife, Madchen Amick, butterflies when she sees or hears him. Despite having charted with his music, he is an enigma to the public, but he is everything to his spouse and their two children.

The musician has a private Instagram account without any posts, which only serves as a means for his family to tag him in their glowing write-ups.

David Alexis Wore Traditional Garb on His Wedding Day to Madchen Amick

The "Twin Peaks" actress met Madchen in 1987, and the pair tied the knot eight years later in 1995. It was a day of merging cultures; the groom donned a black Yoruba tribal robe with white accents, and the bride channeled Audrey Hepburn's famous Givenchy look but in off-white.

Their two children had designated roles, with Mina Tobias looking "cute as a button" as a flower girl and Sylvester "Sly" Alexis excelling in the part of the "smirking ring bearer." The actress recalls:

"We celebrated our incredible diverse family that day. African chanting that called the gods to witness our union. […] My family was either crying from being so touched or wide-eyed and in shock."

Madchen Amick's Husband Wrote Her a Love Song

"Baby can't you see/You're the one who made my life complete," David croons on "You Are a Lady," the soul/funk track he penned for the mother of his two children. Madchen hashtagged the post "swoon" when she uploaded a clip of the song in November 2020.

His daughter Mina is equally adoring of him.

"I still get butterflies (yes, 30 years later) when I see this man's face and hear his voice," she added that her husband reached the top 10 in the music charts. In 2018, Lili Reinhart's TV mom admitted that he hates "being in the spotlight" but wished him the "best birthday ever."

David Alexis' Children Adore Him

Sylvester had a well-rounded childhood with his father, David, coaching him in track and field races. During his college years, he struggled with substance abuse and was in and out of institutions after seeing the death of a schoolmate. His parents suspected there was a deeper issue.

He called his father one night, thinking he was dying. Eventually, he was admitted to a hospital that could diagnose him as bipolar 1. The family founded the Don't Mind Me non-profit in response to help people navigate the mental health care system.

"Happy birthday to this guy! Love you, Dad!" Sylvester wrote in May 2022, sharing a throwback photo of his father, "[David Alexis] sorry for stealing your whole swag, but like father like son."

His daughter Mina is equally adoring of him. She said in 2023, "Happy Father's Day to the coolest and bestest dad around, thank you for your love, guidance, and sacrifice."
