During an October 2020 interview with Mirror, Angela Lansbury admitted to feeling fortunate for doing what she enjoyed the most: acting and entertaining people worldwide.

Apart from that, Lansbury pointed out that she felt blessed for celebrating her 95th birthday (October 16) with her family in California and for staying safe in the middle of the pandemic.

ANGELA LANSBURY FEELS FORTUNATE

In previous interviews, Lansbury has stated that she has never been particularly aware of her age, which is probably why she is still taking acting gigs in her 90s.

For her, it’s just like riding a bicycle, and she never considers running out of steam. That’s probably the reason she has been involved in the entertainment industry for almost eight decades.

Born in October 1925, the legendary actress signed a contract with MGM when she was only 17 years old, and in 1944, she landed her first role ever in “Gaslight.” For her outstanding performance, she received her first Oscar nomination.

At the time, Lansbury was considered a Cinderella because she went from unknown to a movie star in “only four days.”

She regrets not spending enough time with her family.

The following year, she worked in “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” and against all odds, she received another Oscar nomination – her second in only two years working as an actress.

From that point on, Lansbury’s career has never ceased to impress. Apart from her many roles in stage and films, she also worked in many TV series, including “Murder, She Wrote.”

LANSBURY IN “MURDER, SHE WROTE”

It is important to mention that, during her 12 years portraying Jessica Fletcher in the show, she became one of the most powerful women in the TV industry even though she was in her 60s (70 by the time it went off the air).

For “Murder, She Wrote,” Lansbury was nominated for many accolades, including a SAGA and several Primetime Emmys and Golden Globes. She never won an Emmy, unfortunately, which made her quite upset.

Although it seems impossible to imagine someone other than Lansbury portraying Jessica Fletcher in the show, it was a real possibility at one time.

Around the same time that Lansbury was offered the part of Jessica, she received the opportunity to work in a sitcom. At the time, her agents reportedly advised her to take the sitcom, but she ended up choosing “Murder, She Wrote,” and the rest is history.

Lansbury, who has two children and was married twice, became a widow in 2003. She once confessed that she regrets not spending enough time with her family in the past.

Nowadays, the legendary actress is still active in the industry. According to her IMDB profile, she is expected to appear in “The Adventures of Buddy Thunder,” reportedly in pre-production. Way to go, legend.
