Here's What DWTS Pro Derek Hough Said about Former Dance Partner Bindi Irwin's Pregnancy

Derek Hough, a professional dancer and judge on "Dancing with the Stars," has always had a loving relationship with wildlife activist Bindi Irwin. Recently, he spoke about his excitement concerning her upcoming baby.

Over the weekend, professional dancer Derek Hough appeared in an interview with Access TV. The dancer spoke on many things, including his excitement concerning zookeeper and TV personality Bindi Irwin.

Hough and Irwin have several things in common. Most prominent is the fact that they have both won "Dancing with the Stars." Over time, they have built a strong friendship.

In his interview, Hough opened up about the news that Irwin and her fiancé, Chandler Powell, are expecting a baby. He referred to Irwin as his "little bindles," explaining that he was mind-blown with excitement at her upcoming baby. In part, he said:

"My little Bindles, bundle of joy, I love her so much, and the fact that she's going to be a mom, my mind is exploding right now."

Hough explained that he was very excited for Irwin and Powell. However, he also explained that the development was quite surprising because she is his "little Bindles."

The professional dancer likened the situation to that of Shawn Johnson, the famous gymnast, who also competed on the show. Johnson gave birth to her daughter, Drew Hazel, last year.

When Irwin and Powell got engaged last year, many of the show's competitors congratulated the couple.

While the zookeeper has not been on "Dancing with the Stars" for a while, she remains a beloved face on the show – both with fans and fellow competitors. She was the first Australian to win the competition, marking her victory in 2015. Interestingly, she won the competition with Hough as her partner.

According to reports, the pair had developed a significant relationship while on the show. In fact, both Hough and Irwin even had to field off rumors swirling that they were dating.

The TV personality has remained connected with the show and its cast. When Irwin and Powell got engaged last year, many of the show's competitors congratulated the couple.

Some of the notable competitors to offer their good wishes included Alfonso Riberio, Alexa PenaVega, and former show host Tom Bergeron. Not one to be outdone, Hough shared his congratulations as well.

At least, fans now know that the two never had any romantic links. Irwin and Powell are expecting their baby early in the new year. What an excellent time to begin a new chapter in their lives.
