People: 'The Voice' Winner Carter Rubin, 15, Says Gwen Stefani Was like a Mother on the Show

Fifteen year-old Carter Rubin was recently crowned as the winner of the 19th season of "The Voice" under the coaching of singer Gwen Stefani. He had many wonderful things to say about her after his win.

For a teenager competing in front of millions of people, there is nothing more soothing than a mother-like presence to guide them.

This week, Carter Rubin,15, was crowned the winner of the 19th season of "The Voice." He had some pretty interesting things to say about coach Gwen Stefani.

Rubin revealed that they always joked about how he had his real mom outside the show and how he had Stefani as his "Voice" mom on the show. He gushed about how much fun he had being coached by the singer. Rubin told People:

"If I had a motive to win, it was definitely for Gwen because she is such an excellent coach. She was my "Voice" mom, like a motherly figure."

This fifteen-year-old winner went on to praise his coach, saying that she deserves all the credit in the world. Rubin's win gave Stefani her first victory as a coach on the show.

The teenager openly marveled at how she did not have any before him, despite her incredible skills. The golden-voiced boy added that he felt lucky and happy that he was able to give her the win that she deserves.

He then revealed a special moment between him and Stefani right before he was announced as the winner. She came to talk to him during the commercial break and noticed how tense and unsettled he was.

[Rubin] revealed to ET's Cassie DiLaura that Stefani, who also started her career as a teenager, gave him some solid advice.

She calmly reassured him that that was only a moment in his life, and whatever the outcome, he was already a winner. The 51-year-old singer went on to comfort Rubin, telling him that he has such a bright future ahead of him.

Her words were a calming force during that tense period. The moment the show host, Carson Daly, announced Rubin as the winner, he almost collapsed from relief and happiness.

The young Shoreham, New York native, revealed to ET's Cassie DiLaura that Stefani, who also started her career as a teenager, gave him some solid advice. She told him to see this time as the perfect time to start writing songs.

Sadly, due to the pandemic restrictions, only his mom was there in person to support him while his family stayed back at home. Thankfully, Stefani and her fiance, Blake Shelton, were there to join Rubin's mom in celebrating his win.

After, Rubin called the rest of his family to jubilate some more. It was a magical moment. The winning songbird emerged as the winner after he beat Shelton and his contestant Jim Ranger.

Of course, there was no bad blood, but in typical Shelton fashion, the country singer joked that the game was rigged against him in favor of his fiancee.

Rubin started his journey on the voice with a touching story, as he revealed that his autistic brother, Jack, is one of his greatest motivations.

For Jack, Stefani, his mom, and everyone else, young Carter Rubin is determined to achieve success, and he is certainly on the right path.
