'Degrassi: The Next Generation' Actor Jahmil French Dies Age 29 — See the Announcement
Jahmil French's death has left his co-stars shocked as they posted touching tributes on social media after the 29-year-old actor passed away.
Jahmil French has died at the age of 29. French played the character, Dave Turner, in "Degrassi: The Next Generation" and was seen in Netflix's "Soundtrack". Those closest to the actor took social media to share the news.
French's rep confirmed his death on March 2, 2021, sharing a statement that shared the news of his passing and included a tribute to the actor. Many of the 29-year-old's colleagues and friends have shared messages online.

ALL-ROUND INSPIRATION
The circumstances surrounding the "Degrassi" actor's death are yet to be released, but this hasn't stopped those who loved him and looked up to him from taking to social media to share their tributes.
Joshua Safran, a producer on the Netflix series "Soundtrack," took to Twitter to post a French heartfelt message after his passing. The tweet revealed that French's family and friends are still trying to process his loss. The message read:
"I can confirm my good friend, co-worker, and all around inspiration, Jahmil French, passed away yesterday."
PLETHORA OF TRIBUTES
Safran was not French's only co-worker that shared a tribute in memory of the beloved "Degrassi: The Next Generation" actor. Annie Clark, who started on "Degrassi" the same year as French, also posted a message.
Another member of the "Degrassi" cast, Melinda Shankar, tweeted some of her favorite memories with her co-star, sharing her appreciation for French and his willingness to share his talent with the world. She tweeted:
"So grateful for memories and deep convos with you, beautiful angel. Blessed that we got to be part of a big dysfunctional family together."
GOING DOWN AS A LEGEND
Playing Dave Turner has allowed French to be forever remembered as a member of the infamous "Degrassi" family. Others that also started in the Canadian drama series include Drake, Nina Dobrev, and Jake Epstein.
Aubrey Graham, better known as the rapper Drake, reached major success as he already has four Grammy's featured on his wall. The 34-year-old has been the most successful star to come out of the series.
Hollywood has had to say good-bye to other actors alongside French in the few months of 2021. Ronald Pickup, who was seen in "The Crown," a hit miniseries about the British monarchy, died at 80 on February 24, 2021.
A founding member of the legendary Mowtown all-female group, The Supremes, Mary Wilson also passed away in February, leaving Diana Ross the only surviving member of The Supremes.
