Tom Selleck Will Take Part in the 'Friends' Reunion — First Teaser & More Guest Stars Revealed
Tom Selleck is set to appear in the "Friends" reunion show, according to a new Instagram post shared by the show.
The "Friends" Instagram page released a list of guest stars who will appear on the reunion show, set to premiere on May 27, 2021. On the list was Tom Selleck, who played Courteney Cox's character, Monica's love interest.
Before Monica and Chandler tied the knot and made "Friends," fans fell in love with their story arc. Fans were rooting for Selleck's character Richard and Monica's relationship to last.

He played her eye doctor. Their relationship ultimately did not work because he did not want children. He appeared on the show for most of season 2 and made a few appearances in later episodes.
His character was originally only supposed to have a short-lived storyline. However, at a table read for Selleck's last episode, the producers asked him if he would want to do more episodes.
At the time, Selleck had a very successful TV career as he had just come off an eight-season run on "Magnum P.I." He is now a lead character in the CBS cop drama "Blue Bloods."
Last year during an interview with "Today," Selleck revealed that he would definitely join the cast to reunite the show. At the time, news broke of the reunion, but Selleck had not been invited to participate.
The reunion will not be a reprisal episode of the show, but rather, the cast will sit down in a chat show format.
The "Friends" Instagram page released two posts about the reunion. One was a teaser video that showed the silhouette of the cast as they walked through their old backlot on the way to stage 24 on the Warner Bros. Studio lot.
The second post featured the names of the guest stars who will appear on the show. It included Selleck and a host of other celebrities, including Justin Bieber, Kit Harington, Lady Gaga, Reese Witherspoon, Malala Yousafzai, and many more.
Selleck and other guests will join the original group of friends, Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, and Matt LeBlanc, as they look back at some of their favorite memories of the show.
The reunion will not be a reprisal episode of the show, but rather, the cast will sit down in a chat show format and look at behind-the-scenes clips and their favorite memories from shooting the show.
The show's creators, David Crane and Marta Kauffman will also join the unscripted reunion, which is directed by Ben Winston. The cast had another reunion in 2016, but Matthew Perry was not a part of it.
This year he is clearly excited about the reunion opportunity as Perry shared a since-deleted post on Instagram. It featured him in the makeup trailer, getting ready for the set and seeing his "Friends."
