Naya Rivera's Ex-Husband Ryan Dorsey Mourns 'Glee' Star 1 Year After Her Tragic Death

Star actor Ryan Dorsey put up a soul-stirring message on social media as a tribute to his late ex-wife and mother of his son, Naya Rivera. The media post was shared on the first anniversary of her passing.

Last year, many fans were thrown into a mournful mood after authorities announced that a body was found on the coast of Southern California, and it was identified to be actress Naya Rivera.

A few days before the announcement, authorities in Lake Piru were on a days-long search. "Glee" star Naya was reported missing on July 8, 2020, after she and her little son, Josey, went on a trip.

NAYA RIVERA PASSES ON

The star actress rented a pontoon and headed to Lake Piru with her only son. However, after some hours, there were no signs of her or the little boy. A search for the duo was futile, and authorities were altered.

The Ventura Police launched into action, searching Lake Piru on and off-shore. The search was on for days until July 13. Naya's son was found on the boat with a life jacket around his little body. The boy was safe in the pontoon.

However, the actress was nowhere to be found. The search ended after authorities found the body of a woman at the northeast corner of Lake Piru. According to authorities, the visitors' characteristics and circumstances helped confirm that it was Naya.

An autopsy conducted showed that the 33-year-old TV star drowned. There were no signs that her death was triggered by alcohol or drugs. Traumatic injuries or diseases were not identified.

NAYA'S SISTER MOVES IN WITH RYAN DORSEY

After Naya's death was confirmed and her fans and loved ones were informed, many shared heart-rending tributes, expressing their sadness and wishing her son well.

However, sometime later, there was an uproar when news got out that Naya's sister, Nickayla, was moving in with Ryan. There were speculations about their relationship, but Ryan shot them all down.

He took to Instagram, where he posted a 12-minute video addressing why Nickayla would be moving in with him and Josey. The star dad noted that being a single parent, he needed all the help he could get, and that would come from family.

Last year in October, a close source shared that Josey needed a mother figure, and the little boy loved having Nickayla around. The source relayed that the little boy "would thrive with her around."

The insider relayed that Ryan was a great dad, but there were days he struggled. However, with Nickalya around, he feels like he is not alone, and he very much feels grateful for that.

He described his son as a "resilient strong kid" who misses his mommy "but knows" he would see her again. Ryan mentioned that this was what kept him and Josey going.

The doting dad wrote of how much Josey had grown as he called him an "explorer," who was "so inquisitive." Ryan noted that their son was doing fine as he got a lot of family members and loved ones around him.

Naya and Ryan were married from 2014 to 2018. After her death, he took over fully as a single parent. On Mother's Day, Ryan had an emotional moment, as it was his son's first without his mom.

He thanked Naya for being a mother and for birthing their son. He attached a mom-son photo to the post, honoring Naya's motherhood.
