Taylor Swift Skips Out on the Met Gala to Spend Time with Boyfriend Joe Alwyn in Ireland

The MET Gala attracted several A-list stars. However, there were many who were notably missing from the event. Taylor Swift and her actor boyfriend Joe Alwyn were among the MET Gala no-shows this year.

Although the MET Gala saw hundreds of A-listers walk its red carpet, Taylor Swift did not attend the Costume Institute’s event again this year and opted to be overseas instead.

Almost everyone in Swift’s girl gang attended the MET Gala and looked fantastic earlier this week. Gigi Hadid showed off a new fiery red hairdo, and Camila Cabello stunned in purple Michael Kors, but Swift was nowhere to be seen.

Instead, the pop star was spotted thousands of miles away in Belfast, Ireland, to support her boyfriend. Joe Alwyn recently wrapped filming the TV series “Conversations with Friends” in the Irish location.

Swift, who has not attended a MET Gala event since 2016, was spotted in several local spots in Belfast, Ireland, this week. Shu Restuarant even shared six snaps of Swift interacting with the restaurant staff on Instagram.

The Shu Restuarant caption revealed that Swift was in town to support her British actor boyfriend. Coincidentally, according to her song lyrics, Swift and Alwyn met at the last MET Gala the singer attended.

In “Dress” off her album, “Reputation,” Swift sings about her bleached hair and Alwyn having a buzzcut when they met. The stars wore those exact hairstyles to the 2016 MET Gala, meaning sparks first flew at the event.

Fortunately, Swift did not seem too down to miss the extravaganza in New York this week. The superstar merely reflected on her live performances on her new TikTok page instead of acknowledging her absence from the MET.

Additionally, Swift may have felt assured in her choice to skip out on the event since many celebrities did not show up. Crowd favorites such as Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Zendaya, and Swift’s friend Blake Lively were not in attendance.

Like Swift, Beyoncé did not attend the event because she was thousands of miles away in Europe. The “Who Run The World” singer shared photos of herself spending well-deserved time out with family in Cannes.

Lady Gaga also skipped the event to spend quality time with her loved ones seemingly. The “Born This Way” songstress was seen in Los Angeles with her boyfriend, Michael Polansky, just a few days before the event.

Zendaya did not attend due to work commitments for her hit HBO show “Euphoria.” Lastly, Blake Lively did not make her MET Gala comeback, as fans falsely predicted after she reposted a previous MET Gala look on her Instagram story.
