Tearful Moment a Couple Married for 66 Years Reunite in Care Home after Being Apart for 100 Days
Elderly couple George and Joyce Bell brought emotions to the Tollesby Hall Care Home staff as they reunited after 100 days apart.
George and Joyce Bell grew up as neighbors in Middlesbrough, England. George was a jokester and the kind of person who would prank others, but if need be, he will go the extra mile to help others.
“I admired him from afar,” Joyce shared. The pair eventually went from neighbors to lovers, and soon after, they tied the knot. At that time, Joyce was 21, and George was 23.

Their married life was filled with bliss. George worked as an electrician, an armature winder, and would craft life-size engine models. Meanwhile, Joyce became a mobile window dresser and went to different towns to curate the displays.
George and Joyce were both happy with their careers, but even more so with each other. However, as time passed, they grew older and weaker.
Earlier last year, before being admitted to James Cook University Hospital, the couple made a promise to each other.

“I made him make me a promise,” Joyce revealed. “I told him if he ends up going into a home that I’m not going into one.” Due to health reasons and restrictions, the couple had to be separated.
It seems that a lot of exciting things happen inside nursing homes. Previously, an elderly couple from Tennessee escaped their living facility in Lebanon.
After 100 days apart, George and Joyce finally reunited at Tollesby Hall Care Home. “I can’t tell you how nice it was,” Joyce shared. “I told him I’d always be there for him, no matter what. He held me tight and said he’d never leave me again for the rest of his life.”

According to a staff member, Rachel White, Joyce was both excited and nervous when she found out her husband was soon arriving. White said:
“It was very emotional when we brought them together for the first time, not just for them, but for all the team here at Tollesby who are looking after them.”
George and Joyce are satisfied with the warm treatment they have received. Joyce, who is recovering from a broken hip, sees her husband downstairs every day.
Tollesby staff was moved to witness such endearing love. They all hoped that the couple would quickly recover so that they could return home and resume their normal activities.

The husband and wife, who were diagnosed with Dementia and Alzheimer’s, used their Morse Code knowledge to escape an electric lock door. Fortunately, strangers found them less than an hour later.
