The Gold Coast Rugby player was allegedly diagnosed with the ailment several months before his demise, and as months passed, his condition rapidly deteriorated.

At a point, it was revealed that there was no cure for Herbert's illness, and his family was bent on giving him the best care until his last day. One week before he died, the man asked that his family take him to a mall.

There, he bought an engagement ring and proposed to Falwasser, with whom he shared an 11-month-old son. The beautiful lady agreed, and the couple was set to get married.

A few hours before they tied the knot, Herbert told his mother, Vanessa, "Today is the day I die." Immediately, the mother rebuked her son, assuring him that his brother was coming and he would get married at 4 pm.

The sick man eventually passed away 30 hours and 34 minutes after the ceremony.

Herbert hinged on his mother's words of positivity, and at 4 pm that day, the couple finally walked down the aisle in front of Herbert's brother, Kohan. The sick man eventually passed away 30 hours and 34 minutes after the ceremony. After his death, Falwasser shared the footage of the memorable day on a GoFundMe page.

The page was set up to raise money to transport Herbert's body back to his hometown, Kotahitanga Marae, in New Zealand. In the video, Herbert's groomsmen were seen helping him dress up for the big day before wheeling him outside to await his bride. As she appeared at his side, he held her hands and said:

"Hello my wife, hello my baby. I love you."

The couple and guests fought tears as Herbert and Falwasser exchanged rings and swore to be partners for life. In a moving message attached to the video, the wife said she felt showered with love by her friends and family.

Falwasser noted that it was difficult, but she found strength and refuge in everyone's support. Three days after Herbert's demise, his Rugby club, the Nerang Bulls, hosted a celebration of his life. Although the young man is late, his memories will always be celebrated by his wife, rugby team, immediate family, and friends.
