Jason Momoa & Lisa Bonet Are Divorcing despite Him Once Saying He'd Be Forever in Love with Her
"Aquaman" star Jason Momoa and his wife Lisa Bonet split up after marrying in 2017 and being a couple for over 15 years. The pair shared a joint statement announcing their split on Instagram.
"The Cosby Show" alum Lisa Bonet stole Jason Momoa's heart, not when they met in 2005, but rather when he was eight years old and saw her portray Denise Huxtable on the sitcom.
Momoa has been honest with his feelings about his wife after the years. He revealed his childhood crush on the actress on a 2017 episode of "The Late, Late Show with James Corden."
The "Game of Thrones" actor told the chat show host that as a child, he saw Bonet and told his mother she was the one. He admitted his child-self had envisioned himself stalking her for the rest of his life until he got her.
Of course, eight-year-old Momoa's dream came true because after meeting through a mutual friend at a Jazz bar in 2005, Momoa and Bonet experienced a long relationship together.
Besides welcoming Bonet's daughter, Zoë Kravitz, whom she shared with Lenny Kravitz, into his life, Momoa and Bonet welcomed two adorable children together.
Their oldest child, their daughter Lola was born in July 2007, and the following year in December 2008, the "Braven" star and Bonet welcomed their son Nakoa-Wolf.
Momoa has been outspoken about his love and appreciation for his wife during their relationship. Besides calling her adorable names such as "Queen" and "Mama," he once wrote on Instagram:
"Forever goofballs forever young forever in love My best friend. Partner in crime what an epic night aloha da momoaz."
Then after 12 years and welcoming their two children together, Momoa and Bonet tied in the knot in an intimate and low-key ceremony at their home in Topanga, California.
Fans have watched the couple's love and family blossom over the years, so it might come as a surprise that the actors announced they decided to go their separate ways.
Alongside a collection of presumably symbolic photographs, Momoa and Bonet shared a now-removed joint statement that said, "We share our Family news~ That we are parting ways in marriage."
The couple wrote that their love would continue, but it is evolving, and they are "free" from each other to learn who they would become. They added their devotion to their children is unwavering.
