The drastic and sudden change surprised many people, but it also left them concerned about why the actor had lost so much weight in a very short time.
Dan's quick weight turn-around left many questioning if the actor was sick. Still, the veteran star played down the narrative by explaining he had been doing intermittent fasting and practicing karate.
The actor started his weight loss after he was done filming the second "Fantastic Beasts" film. He lost about 20-30 pounds and, for the subsequent two years, lost about 100 pounds.
Explaining his decision to lose weight, Dan disclosed that his metabolism slowed after his 40th birthday, and he could not digest food like he used to.
Also, he wanted to avoid contracting diseases like diabetes which is sometimes associated with being overweight, so he stopped eating processed foods that he could not digest quickly.
However, one of his biggest motivations was his two little girls, Edi and Angel, who the actor wanted to watch grow into strong women, and he wanted to set an example for them.
HIS FAMILY
The actor's wife, Jodie Capes Fogler, works as a professional life coach and is certified through Coaches Training.
In 2014, she and her sister Betsy Capes co-founded a company called "Capes Coaching," which was set up to empower actors and artists by providing them with the tools needed to succeed in their careers.
Before starting the company, the mother of two worked in the administration department of the famous theater company called "Drama Department" and was a personal assistant to multiple famous actresses.

In 2019, Dan appeared at LeakyCon, where he revealed to reporters that the filming of "Fantastic Beasts 3" had not started because the cast was still waiting for author J.K Rowling to submit the script she had been working on.
Even though the actor, who looked noticeably slimmer, had not received the scripts, he hoped his character Jacob would reunite with his witch girlfriend Queenie, played by actress Alison Sudol.
On March 29, 2022, the premiere of "Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore" was held at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Present at the ceremony included Dan Fogler and many of his co-stars, including Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, and Jude Law.
One of the surprise attendees at the premiere was J.K Rowling, who had refused to appear during HBO Max's "Return to Hogwarts" anniversary, which starred "Harry Potter" stars like Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint.
A notable absentee at the premiere was star Ezra Miller who had returned to the franchise and would star as Aurelius Dumbledore.
Ezra had been arrested in Hawaii shortly before the premiere for disorderly conduct and harassment.
The stars present at the premiere did not look like they were missing Ezra; however, they all looked brilliant, walking the movie's red carpet, which is set to hit theaters on April 15.
