"Baywatch" star Priyanka Chopra is married to The Jonas Brothers singer Nick Jonas. Their relationship was quite unusual as it all began in September 2016, with Jonas sending her a Twitter direct message.

He told her some of their mutual friends believed they should meet, and she agreed. Jonas and Chopra kept things friendly until they met in person at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in February 2017.

The "Sucker" singer must have fallen in love at first sight because he got down on one knee to loudly say that Chopra was real. He also wondered where she had been all his life.

Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra started dating shortly after, but they took things to the next level in July 2018. One day after Chopra's 36th birthday, Jonas popped the question in Crete.

The couple announced the engagement in August 2018 and tied the knot in a Christian and Hindu ceremony in December 2018 at the Umaid Bhawan Palace, Jodhpur.

On January 21, 2022, Jonas and Chopra surprised their fans by announcing they had welcomed their first child, a girl named Malti Marie, via surrogate.

Malti Marie spent over 100 days in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit.

While the couple has not revealed why they opted for surrogacy, sources claim it had nothing to do with fertility issues but conflicting schedules.

Jonas and Chopra often spend time apart, meaning that it is hard for them to be together when she is ovulating. They contacted a surrogacy agency and chose a woman who had already served as a surrogate four times.

Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas' daughter was expected to join their family in April 2022, but she was born at 27 weeks (12 weeks prematurely) at a Southern California hospital.

Malti Marie spent over 100 days in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) before finally going home with her famous parents during Mother's Day weekend.

Chopra and Jonas took to Instagram to post the first photo of their daughter. In the caption, the Indian actress celebrated Mother's Day and their daughter's hospital discharge, writing that every family's journey was unique and required faith. She added:

"While [our family's journey] was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is" [sic].

She also thanked the doctors and nurses at Rady Children's La Jolla and Cedar Sinai, Los Angeles, for helping them and pointed out that her and Jonas' next chapter as a family had just begun. Way to go!
