Benedict Cumberbatch hosted "Saturday Night Live" on the Mother's Day weekend. He referenced "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" and other projects of his long and successful acting career in his monologue.

Besides praising his mother, Cumberbatch gave a shout-out to his wife Sophie Hunter and joked that playing his Marvel Cinematic Universe character was more complicated than being a mom. However, some people didn't even know he was married and had a family.

DOES BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH HAVE SONS?

Cumberbatch admitted to being in "constant awe" of Hunter for giving birth to their three "beautiful boys," Christopher, Hal, and Finn, while he was off doing what his wife described as "dressing up as a wizard."

He explained he was technically a sorcerer, not a wizard. Cumberbatch joked that whenever Hunter thought being a mom and raising their sons was hard, she should try to open magic portals – one of Doctor Strange's abilities in the MCU.

Speaking of Cumberbatch and Hunter's relationship, they announced their engagement in November 2014 and revealed they expected their first child the following January. On Valentine's Day 2015, Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophie Hunter married.

While other Hollywood stars have no problem sharing details of their children and personal lives, Cumberbatch and Hunter prefer to keep most things under wraps.

"You interpret events and actions differently and take a much deeper understanding of what it is [your parents] did for you and went through for you. It's a lovely thing."

He added that he understood much more about being a son by becoming a father, and he fell in love with parenting the moment his first boy was born.

Benedict Cumberbatch told Graham Norton on one of his November 2015 shows that he enjoyed fatherhood so much that he hoped to have more. Four years later, his family of five was complete.
