Young Thug is best known as an American singer and rapper. Known initially as Jeffery Williams, he was born in 1992 in Atlanta. The second youngest of 11 children, Young Thug, spent his early years in Jonesboro South Projects.

Growing up in such an infamous area made the rapper resort to petty theft and gambling. However, while at it, he discovered his love for music, and he released local hits like "100 Dollar Autograph," "Who's On Top," and "I Got It."

Eventually, his big break came in 2013 when rap legend Gucci Mane signed Young Thug to the 1017 Brick Squad imprint and released his album "1017 Thug."

Young Thug has been in the news for many reasons, excluding his talent, one of which is his sexuality. The rapper's choice of style, such as nail painting, calling close male friends "lover" or "hubby," and appearing in feminine outfits, has led to the speculations that he is gay.

For instance, in 2016, the rapper posed wearing a blue dress on the cover of his "Jeffery" mixtape. Despite his choice of outfits and speculations, Young Thug has denied claims that he is gay.

During an August 2019 interview, the rapper described himself as "the straightest man in the world." He also revealed it is sad for people to judge gay men. He revealed this while speaking about his colleague Lil Nas X's sexuality.

The rapper made it known that Lil Nas X should have kept his sexuality private. According to him, it was better that way, as he felt most people were only good at judging. He believed that Lil Nas X was still young and would be gravely affected by the backlashes.

Young Thug is undoubtedly a household name amongst hip-hop fans. He has gathered a cult following because of his "Slime Season" trilogy and mixtapes like "Beautiful Thugger Girls," "Jefferey," and one of the most incredible trap tapes of all time, "Barter 6."

Several platinum albums, Grammy nominations, and one Grammy win later, it is safe to say that Young Thug has solidified himself as a staple in the rap genre.

He has also collaborated with many A-list singers and rappers such as Post Malone, Lil Wayne, Camilla Cabello, Drake, etc. This is true, but what is not often heard about is Young Thug's undeniable influence on the entire state of rap today.

Not many artists can say they've had a number one album and 11 spots on the Billboard Hot 100, but Young Thug did. He is still dominating the charts and streaming numbers. His love for unconventional sounds also inspires many new artists who will be coming up in the next few years.
