What Happened between Thomas Markle and Meghan Markle?

Meghan Markle and her father have a complex relationship. The Duchess of Sussex only opened up about her family drama in a tell-all interview after she and her husband broke away from the Royal family.

Seventy-seven-year-old Thomas Markle, the father of Meghan Markle, wife of Prince Harry, recently faced a traumatic event.

Recently, on his way to Platinum Jubilee in London, he suffered from a suspected stroke. An ambulance took him across the border to his home country Mexico. It was unknown whether Meghan went to visit her father in the hospital.

Samantha, another daughter of Thomas, reported that her father was recuperating. She asked for privacy for him and their family, expressing: "He just needs peace and rest."

WHAT HAPPENED BETWEEN THOMAS MARKLE AND MEGHAN MARKLE?

Markle's father has constantly criticized her and the Royal family, once even comparing them to Scientologists.

The dad also did not attend his daughter's highly-publicized wedding to Prince Harry on May 19, 2018, at Kensington Palace. The two reportedly cut ties following this incident.

In May 2018, a source claimed the two were on good terms, but this seemed to change when Thomas begged his daughter to talk to him in a public interview in July of the same year.

Then, in August 2018, he blasted the Royal family, claiming that he made his daughter into a Duchess and stating that she would be better off dead.

WHY THOMAS MARKLE DIDN'T ATTEND MEGHAN MARKLE'S WEDDING?

The father was reportedly set to walk his daughter down the aisle even though he had a heart attack. Speaking to the Mirror in December 2017, he stated he would absolutely "love to."

But, he claimed a scandal changed his mind after rumors began flying around that he was and continued to stage photos with the paparazzi.

Later, Meghan revealed more about her family drama in the shell-shocking interview with Oprah Winfrey. Meghan purported that the Royal Family instructed her not to comment when asked about her relatives.

Thomas and Meghan were once close when she, as a young girl, regularly visited him on the set of "Married… With Children," where he was a lighting director.

The Pennsylvanian-born man began his career in this field in 1975, receiving the Chicago/Midwest Emmy Award for his work.

His vocation led him to meet Meghan's mother, Raglan, who was working on the set of "General Hospital" as a makeup artist.

The two married in 1979, had Meghan in 1981, and divorced in 1987. Ragland, unlike her dad, was by her daughter's side throughout the Royal wedding.

If Meghan still has an estranged relationship with her father and the Royal family, all we can do is hope that she finds comfort in her current life with Prince Harry and their adorable children.
