When Cheryl Burke and Matthew Lawrence were married, they wanted kids, but it was never the right time. The couple had to pause their pregnancy plans several times while enjoying their time together.

Singer and actor Matthew Lawrence, born in 1980, started featuring in commercials from age four, and in 1993, he starred in "Boy Meets World" and "Mrs. Doubtfire."

On the other hand, Cheryl Burke, born in 1984, began training in ballet at four and ballroom dancing at 11. The designer and dancer became the winner of "Dancing with the Stars" for two consecutive years.

On May 23, 2019, Burke and Lawrence tied the knot. However, she filed for divorce in February 2022, and in May 2022, Burke took her divorce proceedings to a new level. Burke requested to take her split from Lawrence to trial.

According to court documents submitted on May 26, 2022, both parties had signed off on the request. The trial would last about three days unless they agree to a "short cause matter" that could take five hours.

In September 2018, the famous dancer, who became the first female professional dancer to win "Dancing With The Stars," said:

"I definitely want to be a mom. I just don’t know about this dance world though. I don’t know if I want them involved in this. It’s a lot of pressure, and they have to grow up way too fast."

She further stated that because she grew up too fast, she did not want her kids to have the same lifestyle. Burke wanted them to remain kids forever and never wanted them to be dancers.

In April 2020, Lawrence revealed that they decided to put their pregnancy plans "on pause" because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He said they wanted to wait and have a better view or understanding of the pandemic situation.

"I have so much love for him."

Burke agreed with him, saying it was healthier, and she was not sure it was "ideal" for her to get pregnant. Over a year later, she revealed that she wanted to wait "another year."

Burke also said she needed to freeze her eggs during the waiting period. She said:

"I do need to freeze my eggs, and I'm really nervous about that."

Freezing her eggs meant she needed to get off her birth control, and she was paranoid. Despite putting parenting on hold, they enjoyed being together while pursuing projects.

They got engaged in May 2018, celebrated with an engagement party in July 2018, and tied the knot in May 2019. Barely three years after marriage, Burke filed for divorce and opened up about her current relationship with Lawrence. She said:

"I mean, he will always have a special place in my heart for sure. I have so much love for him and his family forever."

Burke's filing revealed that the couple had separated since January 7, 2022, and despite their commitment to therapy, they had grown apart.
