Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman and legendary musician Keith Urban have a love story that will take your breath away. However, their romance had a rocky start, leaving Kidman sure the Australian hunk wasn't interested.
Thanks to his sweet voice and iconic lyrics, country music star Keith Urban has been stealing hearts for decades. He was linked to a few lucky ladies but never settled down with anyone until he found Nicole Kidman.
Kidman solidified her legendary status in Tinseltown thanks to her unbeatable performances on the silver screen, but there was one honor she longed for more than anything—the actress wanted to find her soulmate.

THEIR FEELINGS WEREN'T MUTUAL
From their first encounter, Kidman locked eyes with the handsome musician and fell in love, but he had different feelings. When Kidman looked at a photo from their first meeting, she comically questioned how they ended up together.
The look on the actress's face spoke a thousand words, and she shared:
"I had such a crush on him and he wasn’t interested in me. He didn’t call me for four months."
While talking to seasoned actress Jennifer Aniston, Kidman revealed that she "just floated" when Urban walked into the room. She also told God that she would be eternally devoted to their relationship if he gave her a husband like him.
KIDMAN PRAYED FOR HER FUTURE HUSBAND
Kidman and Urban met later in life, but that didn't diminish their relationship's excitement or angst. The actress dreamed about a future with Urban, but she knew the chances of finding love with him were scarce.
Kidman relied on her faith when thinking about her romantic life and went to God when she had concerns and desires. She said:
"I remembered praying after I met him that I'd meet somebody, if not him, like him."
Four months after meeting, Urban contacted Kidman and started to develop a close bond with her. The actress shared her feelings: "I've always said it was like I came home. It was like every part of him was familiar."

URBAN MADE A BOLD MOVE
Six months after making his acquaintance, Kidman was sure she wanted to marry Urban, and she recalled a special moment that solidified this desire. Urban stood outside her home in the early hours of the morning holding gardenias.
It was her 38th birthday, and she instantly hoped he would become her husband one day. The actress had intense feelings for Urban, and she expressed:
"I believed by that point he was the love of my life. Maybe that’s because I am deeply romantic, or I’m an actress, or I have strong faith as well, but I just believed, 'Oh, okay, here he is.'"

THEY SAID "I DO" IN CHURCH
Kidman's prayers for a husband were answered in 2006. The famous couple returned to their home in Australia and chose to say their vows and confirm their love during a church ceremony.
Kidman cried tears of joy on her way to the church, and the couple shared: "We have come home to celebrate our wedding with our family and friends." Even though they met as they approached their forties, age didn't matter.
The actress was delighted she finally found her life partner and said: "That man is the best thing that's ever happened to me." Urban also shared a beautiful message for his wife on Instagram in 2021. He lovingly expressed:
"Happy anniversary babygirl !!!!!!! My life started when you said 'I do' 5475 days ago today."

Fans worldwide congratulated the beautiful duo on their nuptials, and the wedding was spectacular. Kidman looked ethereal, keeping her veil on until she said her traditional vows.
Her Balenciaga gown was a showstopper and paired perfectly with the white freesias, gardenias, and carnations. One guest recalled:
"It was the most emotional and beautiful ceremony. Keith cried when he looked at her."
The passion between the couple was evident. Urban "grabbed [Kidman] and kissed her" as soon as her veil was lifted. A guest added: "When Nicole and Keith looked at each other, it was like they were the only two people in the room."
RAISING THEIR FAMILY "OLD-SCHOOL"
The couple welcomed their first daughter, Sunday Rose, in 2008. Multiple people inspired her name, and Kidman's dad, Antony, suggested the first half of the moniker. He said:
"I have read a bit about Sunday Reed ... she was a key mover and shaker in the arts around the beginning of the century. The name Sunday struck me as being a nice name for a woman."
The youngster's middle name was a nod to Urban's late grandmother Rose. Three years later, the duo was excited to announce the birth of their second child, Faith Margaret, conceived via surrogacy.
Kidman and Urban chose to raise their children "old-school" and try to limit their social media activity. The actress revealed that her parenting policies might make her "unpopular," but they are essential. She said:
"They don’t have a phone and I don’t allow them to have an Instagram. I try to keep some sort of boundaries."
The mom's strong belief in God grounds her, and she isn't afraid to speak about her faith. She added: "That's how we are raising our children. I was raised praying, so that had a massive impact."

The duo credits their "old-school" ways as the secret behind their long-lasting marriage. They have had many years of wedded bliss and shared advice with other couples hoping to have similar devotion and commitment. Kidman stated:
"We've never texted. We just do voice to voice or skin to skin, as we always say."
While many people grow distant from their spouses over time, Urban and Kidman try to spend quality time together without the distraction of cell phones and social media.

Timing is everything, and even though the happy couple is thrilled they met and had two kids, Kidman never hid her desire for more. When asked if she thinks she met her husband at the right time, she had a surprising answer. The actress said:
"Oh, no. I wish I could have met him much earlier and had way more children with him. But I didn’t. I mean, if I could have had two more children with him, that would have been just glorious."
However, she shared that her husband always reminded her to shut down her "wanting mind." They were blessed to be a family of four and remain one of Hollywood's most beautiful displays of true love.
