Fans Slam Kate for 'Copying' Meghan Who Was Once Harshly 'Berated' for Breaking the Same Dress Code Rule

The Royal family always has all eyes on them. Still, most recently, the eyes have been those of fashion police who are closely watching what Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have been wearing and how similar the outfits are.

While Meghan Markle was rebuked for the time that she was part of the royal family, Middleton seemed to be the person who everyone wished Markle would take advice and social cues from. However, it appears that Middleton has instead followed Markle's lead.

As Kate moves out of her comfort zone, fans of the royal family and Meghan Markle criticized Kate for acting and dressing in ways that got Meghan into trouble when she was a working member of the royal family.

On July 6, 2022, Kate and William participated in a very rare public display of affection at a polo match. The kiss and subsequent arms around one another's waists were something that fans of the pair are not used to seeing.

While there is no royal protocol about how much affection a couple can show, Kate and William have always been relatively reserved in this aspect, while Harry and Meghan were always more affectionate in public, often holding hands.

Because Meghan and Harry were always the more affectionate couple, it left fans claiming that the only reason that Kate and William were affectionate in public was to mimic the relationship between Meghan and Harry.

In May 2022, Meghan and Harry were also seen at a polo match where Meghan wore a polka dot dress and a sun hat, similar to what Kate recently wore. At this match, Meghan and Harry shared a kiss.

Although Meghan covered their faces with her hand while she kissed her husband, it was obvious that the couple had shared a kiss. This public display of affection is to what the public compared Kate and William's kiss.

KATE FLAUNTED HER BODY AT WIMBLEDON

At the Wimbledon Women's final on Saturday, Kate sported a new look entirely as she flaunted her body, which she does not usually do. The canary yellow dress and sun hat are some items that Kate has not traditionally worn in the past.

The Duchess looked gorgeous, and while some people were enamored with her new style, some were less than impressed by her apparent readiness to display more of her body in her outfits.

Those people criticizing Kate are those that believe it is wrong that she is being celebrated for are the same sorts of outfits for which Meghan was chastised. Kate made headlines before this event too.

At Wimbledon, Kate wore a very similar dress to the one that Meghan wore when she kissed Harry at the polo match. The dress was black with white polka dots and more form-fitting than is usual for Kate.

Kate handed the trophy to the winner of the Wimbledon Men's final, Novak Djokovic, and looked lovely as she did so but was once again criticized for trying to mimic Meghan's style. However, there was no PDA between Kate and William this time as their son was seated between them.

The dress that the duchess wore to the women's final was also reminiscent of a dress that Markle wore during a reception for young people from around the Commonwealth in London earlier this year.

Kate wore this outfit the day after she and Meghan coordinated their outfits at Wimbledon. While Meghan's dress by designer Brandon Maxwell was sleeveless, Kate's Dolce and Gabbana dress covered her shoulders, making it slightly more modest.

Although the dress style is something that Kate has not usually opted for before, the color is hardly surprising. All of Kate's past looks have been relatively modest, but she has never shied away from wearing color. In fact, the first time William and Kate introduced their daughter, Princess Charlotte, to the world, she was wearing a white dress adorned with bright yellow flowers, and she has worn many other yellow ensembles in the past.

Although Kate's new sense of style is a refreshing change from some of her more modest royal outfits, some people think that it is anything but charming for her to be seemingly copying the outfits that Meghan Markle has worn in the past.

Some fans believed that the treatment of all royal family members, whether working or not, should be the same and that the press should not influence the treatment that a royal receives in public.

Some fans thought it distasteful that Kate was wearing a hat to Wimbledon while Meghan was not allowed to. Some also believed that the only reason that Kate decided to wear a hat for the tennis match was to copy Meghan.

Meghan had worn one to the polo match where she kissed Harry. Another fan has dubbed the fiasco #StrawHatGate and mentioned that in 2018 Meghan was forbidden from wearing a hat to Wimbledon.

However, some fans had no problem with Kate wearing the hat but thought it did not go with her outfit and seemed out of place. One fan even wondered why the royal would have worn the hat in the first place, especially after Meghan had to carry hers in 2018.

Others fans believed that Kate had no style identity of her own as she had only ever copied Princess Diana and is now copying Meghan. Other fans noted that the royal protocols in the box at Wimbledon were not cast in stone and could be changed.

A Twitter user wondered whether or not the rules were only in place for Meghan because of her race. Many responded to the tweet in the affirmative, with one person saying that the only reason Kate gets away with everything that Meghan didn't is that she has the press on her side.

Whether fans think it's a good move or not, for many, it is clear that Kate's style is evolving, and she may have been influenced by her sister-in-law's fashion sense.
