NFL coach Sean Payton's life, or at least part of it, was turned into a sports comedy film, "Home Team," directed by Daniel and Charles Kinnane.

Although it did not focus much on his relationship, it touched on Payton's life with Beth Shuey, his ex-wife of nearly two decades. Shuey was with the famous when he joined the New Orleans Saints, among other career milestones. Sadly, their marriage ended in 2012.

BETH SHUEY IS A SIMPLE GIRL FROM INDIANA

Shuey was born and raised in Morocco, Indiana. She began her studies at North Newton Junior - Senior High School and graduated in 1986. Shortly after, Shuey attended Indiana State University, where she graduated with a marketing degree.

Following graduation, Shuey moved to Indianapolis to pursue a career in business sales. According to her ex-husband, she was "beautiful" and "smart," making it no surprise that he fell for her.

Shuey is also a proud mother to two children, whom she loves and cares for most. Although already separated from Payton, she ensured her kids never felt they had a broken bond with her.

Shuey and Payton first met while she was a student at Indiana State University in 1990. He then joined the institution as a running back and wide receivers coach and pursued a romantic relationship with Shuey shortly after. In his book, "Home Team," Payton wrote:

"Indiana State is also where I met a young woman from tiny Morocco, Indiana, named Beth Shuey. [...] She least pretended to be interested in my theories about next year's Sycamore offense. She had no problem with my Dockers-and-red fannel wardrobe."

After a few years, Shuey and Payton got married on July 11, 1992. However, it wasn't until 1997 that they welcomed their first child, a daughter named Meghan, followed by a son, Connor, in 2000. They stood side-by-side as the coach's career progressed.

Their family moved to Mandeville, Louisiana, when Payton became the head coach of the New Orleans Saints. But when the Bountygate scandal surfaced, their life changed. After nearly 20 years as husband and wife, the couple decided to call it quits.

Connor is also a basketball fan, seen attending games with his father. Although they have never talked about it to the world, the duo share a close bond and are New Orleans Pelicans fans.

The duo filed for divorce in 2012 at a Tarrant County, Texas, court. Their separation came a little shy of their 20th wedding anniversary.

The filing for their divorce stated, "discord or conflict of personalities between Petitioner and Respondent that destroys the legitimate ends of the marriage relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation."

Shuey has a close relationship with her kids and often appears on Meghan's social media accounts. Her posts mostly depict the mother and daughter bonding over outdoor activities, if not spending quality time together.

Meghan also joined the sports industry as a Sports Gild reporter. Previously, she was the sideline reporter for the Saints.

Shuey has since moved on with her life and found love again. She remarried on September 20, 2022, and is now the wife of James McGuire, a Raleigh NC realtor specializing in golf course community homes.

In 2022, Meghan got engaged to "Home Team" writer Christopher Titone. She announced the good news on Twitter alongside photos of the engagement ring.

Meanwhile, her brother Connor lived a more private life growing up, with his educational background unknown to the public. His Twitter user, however, may be a clue that he attended Texas Christian University and is involved in sports as a professional football player.

BETH SHUEY HAS FOUND HAPPINESS IN HER NEW MARRIAGE

Shuey has since moved on with her life and found love again. She remarried on September 20, 2020, and is now the wife of James McGuire, a Raleigh NC realtor specializing in golf course community homes.

Since their marriage, Shuey became a stepmother to McGuire's two children, who she treats like her biological kids. Together, they lie in Raleigh, North Carolina. Shuey reportedly worked as a coach and a Court Appointed Special Advocate.

She also penned "Beautiful Ashes," which she said is "a book about anyone standing in the ashes of their past searching for hope." Shuey is undoubtedly a multi-talented woman, and many can't wait to read her book.

Many successful men had the support of their wives throughout their careers, including Ariel Helwani's wife, Jaclyn Stein, who is an artist and businesswoman. Like Shuey, she was also involved in making the book "Mirth Meets Earth" as the illustrator.

Stein works as the creative director of her family's business, Anzie Jewelry and Jac and Jo Jewelry. Her success story has inspired those around her that women can support their spouses and pursue their dreams simultaneously. Unlike Shuey, Stein is still happily married to her husband.
