Jennifer Lopez Changed Her Legal Name after Marrying Ben Affleck — Fans Disapprove & Claim He's Using Her
Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez finally sealed the deal when they tied the knot in July 2022. In a blog post, the singer revealed that she'd taken Ben's last name, but fans couldn't understand why he hadn't taken hers instead.
Throughout her stardom, Jennifer Lopez has been linked to several high-profile men. According to reports, she was married four times and engaged twice, with those relationships failing to reach holy matrimony.
Ben Affleck was one of the people she once got engaged to nearly twenty years ago. However, fate brought the two stars together again during the pandemic, and in July 2022, they finally tied the knot!

In her newsletter, OntheJLo, Jennifer shared several images from her private union with Ben. A black-and-white image showed her laughing and showing the peace sign while dressed up in her wedding gown as her husband embraced her from behind.
She also shared side-by-side photos of herself and the actor and one where they posed in a pink Cadillac that once belonged to the late Elvis Presley. The songstress and actress wrote:
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.”

Jennifer said they'd gotten their marriage license, along with four other couples in Las Vegas. She and Ben then made their way to The Little White Wedding chapel by midnight and had witnesses available to see them getting hitched.
The bride wore a dress from an old movie, while the groom looked dapper in a jacket from his closet. The couple read their vows and shared wedding rings they planned to wear forever, adding:
“When love is real, the only thing that matters in marriage is one another and the promise we make to love, care, understand, be patient, loving, and good to one another."
She continued, "We had that. And so much more. Best night of our lives." The star shared her gratitude for her and her husband for having love in abundance, a new family with five children, and a life they looked forward to. Jennifer concluded her post by noting how love was a "great thing."
She thought it might be the "best of things" and "worth waiting for." Revealing her new last name, the "Hustler" actress signed off by writing, "With love, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck."
HOW JENNIFER'S FANS REACTED TO HER TAKING BEN'S LAST NAME
Some fans might've thought the songstress was using Ben's last name for show, but official documents revealed that it was official. According to the Clark County Clerk's Office's records, Jennifer became an Affleck on July 16, 2022.
The significant change resurfaced in a 2003 video from when the couple first engaged. During a Dateline interview where the musician was seen preparing breakfast when she was asked what she'd like to be known as after marrying Ben, the songstress said,
"Jennifer Lopez, but my name will be Jennifer Affleck, obviously."
The rest of the clip showed all the loving moments from when the couple first dated. The pair hugged at events, cuddled on sidewalks, kissed in public, and showered each other with love!
Some of Jennifer's fans couldn't understand what she'd chosen to take Ben's last name. Responding to the county records filing, one Twitter fan thought it didn't make sense why the singer changed her last name, writing:
"Jennifer Affleck? Come on😑 That was not necessary. It's not like they're going to have kids. Plus there's already a Jennifer Affleck.”
A staunch fan said they refused to call Ben's wife, Jennifer Affleck. Someone else believed the well-off Jennifer was taking the "Argo" actor's last name so she could take his money, while a fourth person responded to the previous one noting the two star's net worths.
In screenshots, the fan showed how Jennifer was worth $400 million while her husband was only worth $150 million and noted, "Then he should be Ben Lopez…." Another person was impressed with the couple getting married and wondered how long it would last.
A Jennifer fan shared their surprise over the star changing her last name because they thought she loved how her own sounded. The fan said they'd seen the 2003 clip and thought she would have settled for Jennifer Lopez Affleck.
However, not all the comments over the couple's marriage and last name changes were negative. One person thought Ben and Jennifer appeared to be "healthier and happier together" before sharing how happy they were for the couple and wished them "all the best."
Another person who rooted for the pair mentioned how the two stars were "perfect" and also wished them the best for their future together. Someone said a perfect marriage involved two imperfect people who refused to give up on each other.

The musician's last and longest-lasting husband was Marc Anthony, with who she stayed for seven years until they separated in 2011. During their marriage, they welcomed two children, Maximilian and Emme.
Speaking to Harper's Bazaar in 2019 about her dating history, Jennifer confessed that she'd experienced ups and downs. She blamed no one but herself for the relationships failing, noting how she was still figuring out who she was, before adding:
"Until you learn to love yourself, you can’t completely love [someone else] in a way that is pure and true."
However, it seems a lot has changed since she uttered those words. Since she and Ben rekindled their relationship, Jennifer has appeared to be enjoying each day and living on cloud nine.
The day after her wedding to the actor, the songstress took to her Instagram Account to share a video of her "Monday Mood." Ben's wife seemed to be in a celebratory mood with the clip showing her dancing with male dancers at a concert.
The star danced her heart out with her backup dancers before going into a separate dance with one of them. The video ended with her returning to the group of dancers for more vigorous moves.
