Hilary Swank did not just dream of one day becoming a famous actress. She worked tirelessly from age 15 and starred in numerous films, including "Buffy The Vampire Slayer," "Quiet Days in Hollywood," "The Affair of the Necklace," and many more, to get to where she is.

With her diverse roles, she achieved fame and all that comes with being an actress of her caliber, including winning several accolades. However, there was always something missing from her life.

The "Million Dollar Baby" actress waited decades to have her first baby, but the universe has finally smiled upon her. She announced the good news that she is pregnant with twins during a recent "Good Morning America" interview.

Having children was something she always wanted and had waited for a long time, and now, she is about to welcome to the world a double blessing. She disclosed that she was ecstatic about becoming a mom, adding:

"And not just of one, but of two."

Shortly after her announcement, the actress took to her Instagram page to share the milestone. She posted a photo of herself rubbing her belly with the caption: "Coming soon...DOUBLE feature!"

Speaking later on "Live With Kelly and Ryan," Swank revealed she had wanted to keep the pregnancy a secret for as long as she could, but then her clothes started not to fit.

The actress shared her excitement at the prospect of expanding her family, referring to the pregnancy as a miracle. And a blessing it has been.

For years, the actress has struggled with women's health problems, but even without kids of her own, she dedicated her life to family, deciding to take a hiatus from work to care for her ailing dad.

Swank's Health Problems Prevented Her from Having Babies

The actress suffered from ovarian cysts for years and was first diagnosed in 2008. Around that time, her ovary was destroyed and removed during emergency surgery, a probable cause for the "The Black Dahlia" actress not having children in the past.

In 2020, she sued her insurance company, saying she was exhausted by how women's ovarian and cyclical health issues continue to be treated by healthcare insurance companies.

While they eventually settled the matter, Swank disclosed that she had spoken up in support of the many women who suffered in silence and who had to deplete their resources to get basic female health treatments:

"I can only assume they either financially deplete their resources, or they forgo the treatments, quietly suffering in pain and risking their lives."

Swank has always been family-oriented, and in 2014 she took a break from acting to nurse her father back to health. Initially, when her dad was told he needed a lung transplant, Swank thought she would take only one year off work. But she committed to taking care of him until he recovered fully, which ended up being three years.

During that time, she deepened her relationship with her dad and savored every moment they spent together. Luckily, her dad got well, and Swank slowly began returning to work, first featuring in the thriller film "The Hunt" and then in "Away."

Sadly, her dad, Stephen Michael Swank, a retired Air Force chief master sergeant, passed away in October 2021 at 73. The actress expressed her devastation by the loss, writing on her Instagram:

"In this physical loss, as devastating as it is, I was awakened to the truest sense of living again. It helped me better understand the circle of life and where we come from and where we go back to, which has connected me back to my truest self."

Since her father's demise, the actress pays emotional tributes with beautiful photos and videos on her Instagram, remembering their unique bond over the years.

Hilary Swank and Her Husband Philip Schneider's Love Story

The Oscar-winning actress and her husband have been married for four years, with most of their relationship remaining a secret from the public. The pair first met on a blind date arranged by "Encounter" actor Misha Collins's wife, Vicki, and another friend, Jean, in 2014.

Swank revealed that they had met at 10.00 a.m and parted ways at 11.00 p.m., noting that they enjoyed each other's company immensely. A year and a half later, Schneider popped the question during a trip to Colorado, but the pair managed to keep their new status under wraps for another two years.

In August 2018, the lovebirds went a step further and exchanged vows at a redwood preserve in California, surrounded by friends and family. Their union was star-studded, with Swank's long-time friend Mariska Hargitay serving as the maid of honor.

Swank told Vogue they had fun at the wedding as they attempted to pull off the modern-day version of the Fred Astair and Greg Rogers-style tap dance. She told Vogue at the time, as Us Magazine reports:

"I doubt we completely pulled off the modern-day version of Fred and Ginger, but we had fun, and our family and friends seemed to enjoy it."

The two may have chosen to keep their romance from the public eye, but they are sure not shy when appreciating each other. On their first anniversary, Swank gushed over her husband, noting that the one year of marriage had been the best of her life.

The "Fatale" actress has since taken her fans on a journey of their romance, posting beautiful photos of their Labor Day Weekend getaway and her various romantic escapades with her "favorite person."

After many years of waiting for a miracle, the lovebirds look forward to welcoming their miracle twins. While she has already come public with the news, the "I Am a Mother" actress says she still can't believe it is happening and that she and her husband will finally hold their babies in her arms.
