What to Know About Yainee Alonso

Yainee was born to Damaris and Luis Alonso in Havana, Cuba. At a young age, Yainee and her family escaped Cuba and relocated to the United States. The flight from Havana to Miami was a significant risk and sacrifice for the Alonsos in pursuit of better opportunities.

It was 3:30 in the morning when Luis woke up his family to go on a trip that eventful day. Quietly, they entered a small propeller plane, which flew near the ground to escape prying eyes. Should they have been caught, Yainee's parents would have been jailed. Meanwhile, Yainee was too young to understand what was happening.

Upon stepping on US soil, Yainee's parents knew they were free but also entered a life of poverty, starting anew. They rented a house in a Cuban neighborhood and started their lives from scratch.

Yainee's mom worked several jobs in the US, including cleaning warehouses and offices. She sometimes had assistance from her children. Luis shared of their life:

"It was very difficult. You try to make ends meet. We made a lot of sacrifices in working three or four jobs at a time and trying to provide for the family."

Yainee's brother, Yonder Alonso, looked after her as a child while their parents worked. Eventually, life improved for the Alonsos, especially Yonder, who made waves in the sports industry. From 2008 to 2012, Yainee went to the University of Miami, where she received a degree in psychology. The mentioned university was also where her older brother, Yonder, received his education.

Interestingly, Yainee's brother, a former MLB player, was the one who made it possible for her to meet the man who would become her husband. Yonder has known his brother-in-law, Manny, since they were still teenagers in Miami, and they share a common interest in playing baseball. Both of their families have been familiar with each other as well.

Yonder recalled that when he, his sister, and Manny took a vacation to Spain in 2011, Manny told him that he wanted to be more than friends with his younger sibling. Yonder agreed and advised Manny to stay respectful to his sister.

Yainee's brother was considered a promising young baseball player during the MLB draft in 2008 but struggled to live up to the public's expectations. He had a solid rookie season with the Padres in 2012, but that was his only year with the team.

He was a member of several teams, including the Oakland Athletics, for which he played the first baseman. He represented the A's at a 2017 All-Star Game, bringing pride to his parents. Yonder reportedly retired from the sport in 2020 and now works as an analyst for the MLB network.

Yainee continues to maintain a private life with her husband. While she has an Instagram account, Yainee's following is exclusively for family and friends. Her photos can be found on her Manny's social media account instead.

After spending one season with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Yainee's famous husband signed a $300 million, 10-year contract with the Padres in 2019, one of the most expensive deals in history.

Even though her husband's career with the Padres continues to be successful, Yainee has kept a private life. Her husband has featured her on his Instagram account several times, celebrating milestones together.

He shared photos of Yainee from the end of his season with the Dodgers in 2018, in which he revered her for being a supportive wife who never left his side. The hunky athlete also penned a sweet birthday tribute for her in 2020.

Yainee has attended many critical social gatherings alongside her husband. She was Manny's plus-one in several MLB events, including the All-Star Red Carpet Show in Los Angeles in 2021 and 2022.

Despite attending several fancy events, the athlete admitted that he and Yainee were not fond of late-night parties and preferred to stay home spending quality time with family, even though they got mistaken for partygoers. The couple also dislikes wearing tropical shirts and flaunting their jewelry.

Manny also said that when they lived in Miami, Florida, people quickly thought he could enter several clubs easily because of his status as a famous baseball player. The star athlete said:

"The truth is that we are boring. We don't really let people in. We've got a very close circle, and that's it."

Manny Machado and Yainee Alonso's Engagement

The couple may have had a perfect wedding ceremony, but once had a messy engagement in 2013. Recounting the moment, the baseball player said he had set up a nice place in South Beach to ask Yainee to marry him.

Things did not go according to plan, as their Cuban dinner got postponed late in the evening due to a broken kitchen sink, and a homeless man slept on a specific portion of the beach where Manny was about to propose.

Adding to his seemingly bad day was his struggle to pick up the ring that was stuck in his pocket. Meanwhile, Yainee recalled that her husband looked like he had never proposed because the eventful events at that time distracted him. Yainee said:

"Guys think that it's like the movies; the woman says yes automatically. But you are so in shock. I finally said yes, but then I asked him to ask me again because I didn't hear him."

The couple has moved on from that unforgettable ordeal. Manny and Yainee have been happily married for ten years and look forward to more extraordinary things in their union.

What's Going On in Her Life and Love Life Currency

Yainee celebrated her birthday in November 2022 and received a greeting from her mother on Instagram. In the post, she called her a "Beautiful Princess," adding:

"We have seen you grow, [...] having a daughter like you fills me with pride. You are a super transparent person who spreads love through the air and leaves an aura of happiness in everything you touch."

Yonder also paid tribute to Yainee on the special day and said she was "the best sister anyone can have." His post came with several pictures of the celebrant on different occasions.

Besides birthdays, Yainee's family also celebrates her wedding anniversary. In 2021, her mother shared a throwback picture of Yainee's wedding, expressing her happiness and gratitude that life turned out well for her daughter.

Yainee and Manny are undoubtedly a beautiful couple. Earlier this year, they graced a Louis Vuitton event and shared snippets on social media, claiming it was an unforgettable experience.

Meanwhile, another power couple has won baseball fans' hearts. Colorado Rockies star Ian Desmond and his wife, Chelsea Desmond, have been married since 2010. Both met in fifth grade and continue to share an incredible love similar to Machado and Alonso's good marriage.
