Harry Styles was born in Worcestershire, England, on February 1, 1994. From the time he was a young child, Styles loved singing, and in high school, he won a local Battle of the Bands as the lead singer of the teen band White.

His mother urged Styles to enter "The X-Factor" talent show, and even though he was eliminated at the BootCamp stage, he caught the eye of Simon Powell. The music mogul put Styles together with Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik to create the group, One Direction.

Harry Styles - All About His Family

Style's mother, Anne Twist, and his father, Desmond Styles, divorced when the singer was seven years old. Anne became a single mom to her two children, Gemma, then 11, and Harry.

Nevertheless, Styles was close to both his parents and missed them when he toured with One Direction when he was just 17. Being raised by a single mom alongside his sister Gemma made Styles respectful of women.

Styles is still mom's little boy, and he once apologized to her for singing about drugs and women's breasts while she was in the audience.

In 2014, Styles sent a shoutout to Anne, posting an image on Instagram stating, "Sometimes the King is a Woman," and commented revealingly: "Hi Mom!" Styles attributes his stability and the tranquility he has handled fame to his family's influence.

Styles was in California in March 2020 when the US government stopped all international flights to and from the country. The singer/songwriter confessed that he was devastated to be stuck in the USA during the Covid pandemic, far from his family.

Harry Styles' Parents' Divorce

Style's parents' divorce was difficult for the siblings and equally painful for their parents, who had to break the news to their children. Style's father, Desmond, revealed:

"We were sitting in the lounge. Gemma and Harry were sitting on the floor in front of us, Anne and I on the sofa, and both of them were crying."

But Styles stated in an interview with Rolling Stone that he doesn't remember the divorce or his painful reaction that upset his father. After the divorce, Desmond saw his children every few weeks and continued to support them financially. In later years, Desmond would advise Styles about girls.

Harry Styles' Close Relationship With His Mother

Even though Styles maintained a strong bond with his father, it is to his mother the singer is closest. He revealed that he always had a strong need to protect Anne. He confided:

"Since I’ve been 10, it’s kind of felt like – protect Mom at all costs. … My mom is very strong. She has the greatest heart. [Her house in Cheshire] is where I want to go when I want to spend some time."

Anne is equally protective of Styles and has come out against the critics who try to label him and doubt his masculinity. The singer's mom revealed that Styles has always loved fashion and would dress up as a child.

Styles is still mom's little boy, and he once apologized to her for singing about drugs and women's breasts while she was in the audience at one of his concerts. When Anne remarried, it was Styles who walked her down the aisle. Mom and son are adoring and devoted to each other.
