Thieriot and Murphy first encountered each other while holidaying with their families in the Caribbean. Although they were just teenagers, they began dating shortly after that, and it turned out to be a serious and long-term relationship.

Seven years after they met, the couple, now past their teens, went back for a two-week vacation in 2012. Thieriot saw this as an opportune moment to propose to his girlfriend in the same place they had begun their relationship. He spoke about the occasion, saying:

"I think she expected it was coming. Then, she ended up thinking it wasn’t going to happen because I waited a whole week before I asked."

Among the guests at the wedding was Hollywood actress Kristen Stewart. Stewart had become friends with Thieriot and they featured together in the 2004 movie, "Catch That Kid." The "Twilight" star posed for photos and mingled with guests during the wedding.

Thieriot and Murphy became parents for the first time in 2015. The then-27-year-old "Bates Motel" star announced on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) that the couple had added one more member to their family.

The social media posts showed their newborn baby sleeping sweetly in a bowl and wrapped in a towel. It was accompanied by a caption that read:

"Christmas came early this year! @lexithieriot and I are so excited to announce the birth of our son Beaux. We love him to the moon!"

Baby Beaux was followed by his younger brother, Maximus, in 2018. The exact dates of the children's birth are unknown but, going by their father's social media posts, their birth months can be approximated. Thieriot often posts pictures of his boys, and they seem to enjoy spending time outdoors.

Since welcoming their sons, Thieriot and his wife have ensured that they build a bond as a foursome. For instance, for 2023's Easter holidays, the family looked happy as they posed together for a photo while on a farm with a barn in the backyard.
