Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Love to Roast Each Other Online — They Made It to 10 Years & Raise 3 Daughters
-
Ryan Reynolds has been happily married to Blake Lively since 2012.
-
The couple has three daughters and a fourth child on the way.
-
Ryan and Lively often joke about each other but never about how much they love one other.
Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, have always had a fun marriage that included laughter and plenty of jokes, although their humor was mainly directed at each other! For instance, on August 26, 2017, Ryan shared a hilarious Instagram birthday message with his wife.
He uploaded a picture of him standing with her at an event, and while he was fully visible, only her one eye and part of her nose and mouth were visible! The "Deadpool" star wrote that he wished a happy birthday to his fantastic wife!
In retaliation, when Ryan's birthday rolled around on October 24, 2017, Lively shared a similar post to the one her husband had uploaded. Taking to Twitter, the actress shared an image of her husband standing alongside Ryan Gosling.
However, the actress's husband was cropped out as he did with her picture, and only the other Ryan was fully visible! To add more emphasis to the post, Lively wrote, "Happy birthday, baby," showing how humor was the dominant side of their loving relationship!
The couple married in 2012, and in 2021, the "Red Notice" actor shared how they'd always "liked each other." He said they grew together and learned from one another before noting how lucky he was to have a friend like that.
Ryan's "Judgment" of Blake's "Poor" Fashion Choice
Although Lively and Ryan loved one another very much, and as they were, they couldn't help but tease each other at every chance they got! Like in November 2017 when the actor shared a less flattering photo of his wife.
Taking to Instagram, he shared an image of the actress on the set of the movie, "The Rhythm Section." Lively was makeup-less and dressed to look less glammed up, with Ryan writing "#nofilter," but ironically, he once praised her for making sure he never went out looking shabby!
"I [Ryan Reynolds] would never walk out of the house without her [Blake Lively] approval."
Blake "Picked" the Right One
For her husband's birthday in 2019, Lively shared a hilarious Instagram post where she had one of her fingers inside Ryan's nose! The actress was snuggled up to him with her eyes closed and a content look on her face while he looked comedic!
In the caption, she revealed that she'd "picked a good one" before wishing her husband a happy birthday! However, showing how it was all fun and games for the pair, a day after 2022's Valentine's Day, the actress uploaded a happy image of the two of them with a cute quote.
"Find me [Blake Lively] a better friend. ♥️ I’ll wait…"
Ryan Shares His Love to Wife on Mother's Day
Despite the couple joking a lot on social media, there were moments where they showed how much they just loved each other. For 2021's Mother's Day celebrations, Ryan shared a beautiful image of him embracing his wife.
He noted how Lively was the soul and heart of each moment the family shared and that he was grateful for the kindness and light she brought into their lives. The actor said he saw her in their children's eyes in each laugh, blink, and "thoughtful moment of vulnerability."
Ryan shared how it took heroism and strength to be a mother in 2021 and joked that he never anticipated that having anonymous bathroom sex at the airport would've led to what they had! He continued saying he didn't expect her to hire "Dog the Bounty Hunter" to find him!
The star noted that he was lucky to reflect the sunlight his wife shined on their family before wishing her a happy Mother's Day and sharing his love. In December 2022, while at the People's Choice Awards, Ryan couldn't help but emotionally gush over his children and pregnant wife.
"Thank you Blake [Lively] and my [Ryan Reynolds] three daughters. It's going to be a fourth child very soon. Blake and my girls, you are quite literally my heart, hope and happiness. I joke that my family exhausts me, but you give me more strength than any man can possibly deserve."
Teasing Blake on Her Birthday
For Lively's 2019 birthday, Ryan hilariously managed to find all the images of her with her eyes closed and shared them on Instagram! One of the photos even showed her looking away from the camera, with her husband wishing her a happy day.
The teasing was a part of their loving relationship, and the duo still performed gestures that melted hearts. During 2021's Valentine's Day and the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lively shared an Instagram video of Ryan coloring her hair.
"Blake Lively has revealed her husband [Ryan Reynolds] is colouring (sic) her hair during COVID-19."
Ryan's Birthday Pie
Lively baked her husband a birthday pie in 2020 and uploaded a picture where she presented it to him. Ryan laughed as she held out the pie decorated with birthday cake candles.
In the post's caption, she asked which "lost soul" chose a birthday pie instead of a cake and what "animal" ate the cake or pie without blowing out the candles before noting her husband was that person! The "Gossip Girl" star wished her husband a happy birthday and said she couldn't believe they were still married.
It seemed the birthday pie was a bit of a treat for their household because the actress ate much healthier foods most of the time. However, Lively wasn't on a strict diet and counted all the calories in her food.
"Blake’s [Lively] diet is a healthy balance of proteins, vegetables, fruits, slow-burning starches like sweet potato, and healthy fats like avocado, coconut oil, and grass-fed butter."
Ryan's Response to Rumors about His Marriage
In April 2018, Ryan and his wife were seen at the New York City premiere of "A Quiet Place" with his mother, Tammy Reynolds. Their appearance came a few days after he responded in a tweet to rumors about his marriage ending.
The actor quoted a headline that said he and Lively were "struggling to spend quality time together" by jokingly responding, "I wish, I could use a little 'me time.'" Speaking at the premiere, he was adamant that they'd never split, but the catch was that he was referring to the relationship with his mother!
He said Tammy would always be his mother despite all the "jazz cabbage she smokes with her rollerblading friends." However, at 2022's People's Choice Awards, he focused solely on his wife and children.

“But Blake [Lively] and my [Ryan Reynolds] girls, you are quite literally my heart, my hope, my happiness. I joke that my family exhausts me, but in reality you give me more strength than any man could possibly deserve.”
Blake's Present for Ryan in Tribute to His Childhood Home
In August 2019, Ryan shared several images of a painting while in Vancouver, British Columbia. The painting showed a boy delivering a newspaper to a house, with the Canadian-born actor noting how the trade was his first job for the Vancouver Sun.
He explained that the house in the painting was his childhood home, where he and his brothers spent years trying to kill each other on the lawn. Lively's husband noted the many "Easter eggs" in the painting, including his idol "John Candy," who appeared on the front of the newspaper.
The actor revealed the house wasn't there anymore, but it did exist in his head. He confessed that the painting, created by Danny Galieote, was the "greatest present" the actress had ever given him.
Ryan joked that if there was a fire, he'd grab the artwork first and come back for his wife! From time to time, the actor praised his wife and shared all the qualities that made him love her.
"She [Blake Lively] always responds with empathy. She meets anger with empathy. She meets hate with empathy. She'll take the time to imagine what happened to a person when they were 5 or 6 years old."
"And she's [Blake Lively] made me [Ryan Reynolds] a more empathetic person. I had a very fractured relationship with my father. Before he died, she made me remember things I didn't want to remember. She made me remember the good times."
The Couple's Hilarious Social Media Posts
In 2016, in celebration of Lively's birthday, Ryan started his tweet by wishing Billy Ray Cyrus "the most special, magical birthday ever." He continued saying he loved Cyrus with all his heart and, as an afterthought, wished his wife a happy birthday too!
Two years later, his wife tweeted the trailer for her movie "A Simple Favor," about Emily, played by Lively, who went missing. In response, her husband jokingly said she could tell her what happened to Emily because they were married.
Ryan even pointed out that she once drove him to the hospital when she gave birth and must know where Emily was. The actress hilariously replied, telling him that of all the secrets she'd kept from him, the one about Emily's whereabouts should be "the least" of his concerns!
In 2015, Ryan vowed he'd walk through fire for his daughter before retracting that and saying he wouldn't because it was dangerous. He then said he'd walk through a humid room, but one that wasn't "too humid" because of his hair!
Three years later, he shared how there was nothing better than the joy of finding $5 in an old pair of pants or finding out that he and his wife had a second daughter more than a year before! In 2020, Lively revealed what her exercise routine was and what mothering her brood looked like, saying:
"So I [Blake Lively] would actually wake up and work out with my girls."
"So I [Blake Lively] would sort of use them as weights. Instead of wearing a weight vest, I got to wear my children."
"They don't ever go to sleep, honestly. We gotta invent something."
"Usually I'd [Blake Lively] fall asleep in there. Almost every single night I'd fall asleep in there. And then my husband [Ryan Reynolds] would usually come in and be like, 'Hey, you're safe now. You can come to bed.”'
The couple first met on the set of "Green Lantern" in 2010 and had been married for ten years in 2022. Despite their uncanny need to roast each other frequently, Ryan and Lively were loving parents to three girls and pregnant with their fourth one in 2022.
