Mariah Carey might live a life of luxury now, but her upbringing was anything but glitzy and glamorous. Her family was poor, and she didn't experience a Christmas with many gifts under a big shiny tree.

The singer remembered receiving an unusual gift during one festive season. It was a wrapped-up orange and not the type of present a little girl longed for.

Mariah spoiled her kids because she wanted to give them a memorable Christmas every year. Amid the Christmas glitter, the singer still ensured her kids counted their blessings and knew how lucky they were.

As a young woman, Mariah went to work wearing her mother's busted shoes and knew what it felt like to struggle, so giving her loved ones a wonderful festive experience was something she took pride in.

The Songbird Supreme once stated: "I never thought I was going to have kids." After the birth of her twins, she was relieved because she had suffered a previous miscarriage that made her anxious.

The significant loss left a mark on Mariah and made her doubly grateful when her twins were born. When the star's relationship with Nick ended in 2014, she refused to let it overshadow her happiness.

A source revealed that Mariah was happy for her former spouse and only wanted the best for him. In 2019, the Christmas Queen said:
