Grandpa of 8 Paul McCartney Finds Joy in Picking up Grandkids from School, Reads to Them & 'Spoils' Them
Paul McCartney is a lucky man who has a happy marriage and children. However, he also has eight grandchildren for whom he strives to be a "normal" grandfather, but he always does more and is fantastic at his role.
Paul McCartney, 80 in 2022, met his future wife, Linda Eastman, at the Bag 'O Nails nightclub in London in 1967. The singer recalled how their attraction had been instant, but although he was a major celebrity, he tried playing it cool.
He greeted her by introducing himself and asking her name. However, Paul thought she recognized him and felt his pickup line was corny, but he later told their children that it was the moment that allowed them to be born!

The Beatles musician and Linda only reconnected in New York City the following year, and they were dating by the fall. On March 12, 1969, the couple married at London's Old Marylebone Town Hall.
Paul's union had photographers and the press swarming to get glimpses as the couple kissed. In the book, "Many Years From Now," by Barry Miles, the star said this about their marriage:
"We were very up and down, quite funky compared to the eventual image of 'Twenty-five years of married bliss! Aren't they lucky for people in showbiz?’ But we are."

Together with Linda, they welcomed four children, and he also adopted her daughter, Heather, from a previous marriage. The singer eventually had more children and also became a grandfather.
Paul McCartney - Fatherhood and Grandfather Journey
Paul once revealed how involved he was with his grandchildren. He shared how he picked them up from school and that the process was a "joy" for him while describing how they had a "pretty normal" relationship.
By November 2019, the musician was already a grandfather to eight grandchildren! Despite being super famous, the star made time to go on holidays with the offspring as often as he could and noted how he was a "terrific" grandparent, adding:
“You know, I love them and I love being a granddad."
Paul revealed that he and his grandchildren didn't live close to each other, but they spent as much time as they could together and went on holidays like for Christmas. In the summer, he saw them, and sometimes his current wife, Nancy, picked them up for school.
The singer said the experience was fun, and he was ad-libbing the grandparent thing. He noted how being a grand-grandparent would also come with its challenges, but he loved being able to do something with his grandchildren.
Paul joked about his grandchildren not being so into him and his wife but more into the since cream they got! However, he didn't mind treating them and played with the offspring.
The musician hilariously noted how being able to hand the grandchildren over was also significant because when they pooped themselves, he just gave them back to their parents! Another activity he undertook with them was reading.
The Beatles star said he wrote his book, "Hey Grandude!," to read to his grandchildren. He wasn't a fan of children's books, and when the children visited, he had books for adults to read.
Paul recalled an evening they were visiting, and he didn't know what to read for them at night, so he turned to poetry! He struggled to find what he hoped was a suitable poem for their bedtime!
The star figured parenting his children was more complicated than being a grandparent because, with the latter, you had fewer responsibilities. The children's parents had to decide how much screen time they had and ensure they were in bed on time.
He didn't mind babysitting because it allowed him to spoil his grandchildren, and he even had a rug that read: "Grandchildren spoilt here!" Sadly, one of Paul's grandchildren was mugged at knifepoint in 2019, and he understood that each generation had its dangers.
He said one could only do their best and hope they survived. The star vouched for showing them love, kindness, and the good things life had to offer; he noted how reading to them at bedtime was one part of it.
However, the singer knew books had to compete with the children's screen time, and he hilariously confessed that he would've been a gamer if he'd grown up now! Paul said he occasionally played guitar for his grandchildren at home, but it depended on their actions at the time.
If the offspring had a game going and he was trying to play something for them, he'd inform them that people paid money to see him! The grandchildren would shut him down by telling him they were busy, but sometimes they indulged him!
What he enjoyed the most was the children, who he thought were terrific in their innocent, bright, and clever ways that allowed them to teach you things. He loved hanging out with them, and they made him laugh.
In March 2022, Paul went on vacation with his friends and family to St. Barts. The Grammy Award-winner also spent time with his family and grandchildren at the same location in December 2017.
The star's grandchildren have different age ranges, and it wasn't difficult to see that they were related to him. The singer has openly shared what they look like and, on rare occasions, went on public outings with them.
Paul's Look-Alike Grandchildren and Their Backgrounds
Paul's first grandchild was Arthur Donald, born to his daughter Mary Alistair Donald, in 1999. In 2002, the couple welcomed Elliot Donald before divorcing in 2007, and the following year, the singer's daughter welcomed Sam Aboud with Simon Aboud.

In 2010, Mary and Simon married, and Sid Aboud was born the following year. Stella McCartney married Alasdhair Willis in 2003 before they welcomed their first child, Miller Alasdhair James Willis, two years later.
In 2017, when Paul [McCartney] walked through Yale University's grounds, students couldn't help but notice the resemblance between the two.
In 2006, Bailey Linda Olwyn Willis was born to the couple, followed by Beckett Robert Lee Willis in 2008, and lastly, Reiley Dilys Stella Willis in 2010. Although her fashion design career reached new heights in the early 2000s, Stella had always been focused on her family, saying:
“I try to spend as much time with my kids as possible. I take them to school every morning; I do four different drop-offs.”
Paul's daughter once admitted to having "unconditional love" for her children, and they knew she was there for them. However, she credited her home and work teams for helping her juggle things well.
One grandchild who took after his grandfather was Arthur, who looked like a mirror copy of Paul while still with The Beatles. A publication noted how Arthur's lips, eyes, and smile resembled that of the famous singer.
In 2017, when Paul walked through Yale University's grounds, students couldn't help but notice the resemblance between the two. The duo attended the "My Generation" screening with Mary in March 2018, and the look-a-like pair were also spotted together in September 2022 on a movie trip.
