Their marriage made headlines at the end of 2006 and the beginning of 2007 when it became known that the Patriots' head coach was funding a lavish lifestyle for his secret mistress, who was also married at the time.

Debby Went to High School with Her Ex-husband
Debby was a popular girl in high school when she captained her cheerleader group. Her eventual husband was, at first, just a friend. The pair remained close friends for years until Bill persuaded Debby to ditch Birmingham-Southern College for a few days, during which they began dating.
Debby is a lone daughter. Her parents were married in the early 1900s and welcomed her in 1955. Her only other sibling is her brother, Stuart H. Clarke Jr., named after their father. On April 30, 2012, her mother passed away aged 89. Her close family and friends attended the private funeral.
Debby's husband was born on April 16, 1952, in Nashville. Bill's paternal family was of Croatian descent, like Kris Brkljac, and his father groomed him to develop a brain for football. Growing up, he was always involved in sports and felt a deeper connection to lacrosse than football.
Debby and Bill Belichick's Marriage Lasted Almost 30 Years
Debby and Bill tied the knot in 1977. The now-divorced couple were lovers from high school and remained committed to each other for the best of three decades. They welcomed three children during their time together: Daughter Amanda and sons Stephen and Brian, both employed at the Patriots.
Debby and Bill were known for their commitment to charitable organizations that served people in the community around them. They had their very own philanthropic foundation, which helped the people of Boston and Cleveland. Together, they set up a fund for a promising student from Annapolis High School.
In 2007 Bill was guilty of having a costly affair with a then-41-year-old New Jersey resident, Sharon Shenocca. The affair cost him his marriage, and the court documents during the divorce revealed that the Patriots' coach spent exorbitant money on his mistress, including purchasing a $2.2 million townhouse for her pleasure.

He started in the scouting department and earned an assistant coach position. Bill spoke about the experience of working with his sons. He said:
"It's been a great experience to be able to come in every day and just experience things with them. You experience them with other people on your staff, too, but it's great to have your kids involved. I think it's been good for all of us."
