Rebel Wilson's Look-Alike Mom Flew to Hold Her Grandkid — She Was the First to Believe In Her Daughter's Talent
Rebel Wilson's look-alike mother, who the actress credits for helping her overcome shyness as a child, flew in to hold Rebel's newborn daughter as soon as possible.
Rebel Wilson is an Australian actress known for her comedic abilities. She was born on March 2, 1980, in Sydney, Australia, and cut her teeth, making audiences laugh onstage and on local television. But in 2011, Wilson landed a career-defining part in Judd Apatow's film "Bridesmaids," playing the roommate-from-hell opposite Kirsten Wiig's character.
Her portrayal of Fat Amy in the hit acapella movie "Pitch Perfect" made her an even bigger star with global recognition. Wilson then hosted the 2013 MTV Music Awards and later participated in a TV series called "Super Fun Night." She later appeared in many other movies, including "Hustle" and the on-screen version of "Cats."

Journey to motherhood
On November 7, 2022, Rebel Wilson announced that she welcomed her first child, a baby girl, via surrogate. The "Pitch Perfect" actress fell instantly in love with her new baby, who she described as a "beautiful miracle." Speaking about her journey to motherhood that began in 2019, Wilson said:
"I was carrying around a lot of excess weight. It's almost like I didn't think of my own needs. I thought of a future child's needs; that really inspired me to get healthier."
Excess weight and polycystic ovary syndrome, which Wilson suffers from, can both impact fertility negatively. The actress challenged herself to change her habits and rewrite a future where her dreams could come true. She dubbed 2020 her year of health, putting an exercise and diet regimen that would make her the healthiest version of herself.
By the end of that year, she had lost 80 lbs., improving her chances of being a mother. The arrival of her daughter two years later was the fulfillment of that dream. The new mum has immersed herself in her new role, learning to care for her baby properly.
The actress would agree with the sentiment that being a mother can demand more than one thought they were capable of.
Wilson's daughter, who she named Royce Lillian Elizabeth Wilson, or Roycie as her mom calls her, has been a calm baby so far. The actress chose the name Royce because she wanted a unique name starting with the letter R. Lillian and middle name Elizabeth, which they share, are Wilson's family names.
The comedian has the full support of her girlfriend, fashion designer Ramona Agruma. Her partner organized a baby shower soon after Royce's arrival with the actress' close friends in attendance. Agruma is committed to raising Royce together with Wilson. Speaking about how motherhood has impacted her, she said:
"You start thinking about someone else instead of yourself, priorities change. It's been amazing, it's truly life-changing, but in a good way."
The actress would agree that being a mother can demand more than one thought they were capable of. After losing weight and undergoing three surgeries, she received news that all the eggs she had banked so far were lost during the thawing process. Wilson was devastated. But she kept pushing, driven by the desire to become a mother.
In 2021, the "Cats" star published a children's book inspired by her upbringing in western Sydney. "Bella the Brave," the first of a projected series aimed at inspiring and motivating young children, centers on overcoming shyness.
The young girl would retreat into her imagination, creating scenarios featuring her toys and herself.
Seeing Wilson now, it might be hard to imagine but she admits that she was a "painfully shy" child. The young girl would turn red if the teacher asked her a simple question, and she wouldn’t speak out even though she knew the answer.
The actress continued to describe how her stuffed toys were her closest friends. The young girl would retreat into her imagination, creating scenarios featuring her toys and herself. Wilson's mother, Sue Bownds, felt that her daughter needed to learn to interact with others and assert herself. Speaking of her younger days, Wilson said:
“That’s why nobody ever thought I’d become an actress, and it wasn’t really, in real life, until my teenage years that I really did break out of my shell and started making proper friends and having proper social interactions."
Her mother made her join the girl's choir at the local community center, and Rebel Wilson discovered herself; she loved to entertain. The arts gave her more than a creative outlet; they taught her how to express herself and overcome her shyness in real life, which was her first big obstacle.

Bownds, a qualified dog trainer, has been her daughter's most prominent supporter. She cheered her daughter on as the actress hosted an Australian dog grooming show called "Pooch Perfect" with her dog Russel.
Wilson would jokingly call the proud mom "the mamarazzi" because she would constantly take pictures of the comedy star. But the actress is just as expressive of her love for her mom, posting messages of appreciation on her social media pages.
Not only does the 42-year-old actress resemble her beautiful mother, but they also share a special bond. And now, she is a doting grandmother to Royce. As soon she received news of the birth, Bownds traveled to be with her daughter and get some one-on-one "Grandma time" with the baby girl.
Rebel Wilson has a loving mom, a caring partner, and the baby she has always wanted, not to mention a place in the list of Hollywood's funniest ladies. Four great reasons for the mamarazzzi to get her camera out.
