Radnor's love life was quiet until 2022, when he shared that he was dating someone while filming his latest project, "Fleishman Is in Trouble."

He was working on "Liberal Arts" at the time– which he had written and directed– alongside Elizabeth Olsen and revealed that he was in no rush. Part of the reason Radnor had not married yet was also due to his fear of having a "bad marriage." He said:
"In some ways, I've always been scared of a bad marriage (and) spouses that were at odds with each other. So there's something relieving about being able to play that out in a fictional context. Maybe it means you won't have to do as much of that in real life."
As Radnor has gotten older and wiser, the actor revealed that he had learned more about life and knew more in his late forties than when he was in his twenties. "I'm a little more seasoned around living life," he said.
After enduring moments of failure, humiliation, as well as success, Radnor felt like he had more to say and write about. The actor spoke candidly about his past relationships that worked and those that did not, and eventually found his way to writing music.

Josh Radnor Has Taken to Songwriting to Express Himself
From as far back as 2017, Radnor joined a long line of Hollywood stars to double as actors and musicians, such as Mark Wahlberg, Justin Timberlake, and Beyoncé.
His friend, musician Ben Lee, persuaded him to learn how to play the guitar, and in 2017, the pair began performing shows together.
Radnor shared that learning the instrument took courage, but he was motivated by his love for songwriting, performing, and singing. He had reservations as he thought he needed to have picked up the skill of playing an instrument at a young age.

When Lee moved to Australia in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Radnor became a solo act, with his family and friends encouraging him to continue playing. "I would not be doing this if it were not for my friendship and collaboration with Ben," he shared.
The actor had spent years writing music in "a safe environment" and was the mastermind behind the track selection of his music in his films such as "Liberal Arts." Radnor said:
"I just allowed myself to overwrite and create a fertile kind of musical landscape for myself, where I wasn't shaming myself or thinking it wasn't good enough. I just kept making stuff."
Radnor shared that his acting career helped his musical one, as there was musicality and rhythm in the language in scripts and performances. He explained it was why so many talented actors made talented musicians.
