Born in Los Angeles on November 19, 1962, she started modeling as an infant and was cast in a Coppertone ad at age 3. By 12, she was an Academy Award nominee, but unlike so many child actresses whose careers fizzle out, Jodie's went from strength to strength.

Jodie conceived Charles in vitro, and though rumors have named Hollywood producer Randy Stone as his father, she has never confirmed it.

At the age of 37, Jodie gave birth to her first son, Charles, and as he has grown up, fans have grown used to seeing the boy accompanying his mom on red-carpet appearances and events and out and about in Los Angels on mother-son walks or bonding over iced coffee.

"My older one is really into improv. He's an amazing artist."

It will be interesting to see if Charles' fascination with theater and film will lead him to act or to follow his mother's second passion: directing. We will watch for a second generation of Fosters in Hollywood.
