The COVID-19 pandemic taught us how important it is to cherish our time with family and show them how much we care. It put a stop to our usual routines, and for some people, it was more difficult to adjust to what the "new normal" was for the entire world.

For Matthew Stewart of Florida, he wanted nothing more than to see his 87-year-old grandma Bobbe happy despite being at home for a couple of months due to quarantine protocols. The two of them were very close, and he wanted to make sure that his grandma didn't feel uncomfortable throughout her stay at home.

Using Social Media to Show Their Love

Matthew spent most of his growing years with grandma Bobbe and his grandfather. Because of this, he admits that his grandma is "more like a mother to me than a grandmother."

Like many other people stuck at home during the pandemic, Matthew turned to social media to keep himself preoccupied. He created a TikTok account and started to share videos of him and grandma Bobbe while they kept one another entertained at home.

After months of sharing videos of their adorable duo on TikTok, Matthew and grandma Bobbe amassed over a million followers. While they've shared countless moments together, there was one that caught the attention of many, and it was because of how well-planned and thoughtful it was.

A Sudden Change to Her Schedule

Before the pandemic, grandma Bobbe used to frequent a local beauty salon and had been doing so for thirty years. She would go there every week to get her hair done, but because of pandemic restrictions, she wasn't able to do that for months.

According to Matthew, it was affecting her emotionally, saying: "She [was] kind of get getting down, getting a little depressed because she didn't have her usual salon day."

So, to make his grandmother happy again, Matthew decided to bring the salon to her and gave it his best shot. He washed her hair, blow-dried it, and styled it with a curling iron, and grandma Bobbe couldn't be happier. He even gave her a drink for the ultimate VIP experience!

Anything to Make Grandma Bobbe Happy

Although Matthew never had any experience working for a beauty salon or even styling a woman's hair, he did everything he could to make his grandmother happy. At the end of it all, his grandma said, "I love it," and it was all the recognition he could ever need.

Matthew recorded the whole thing and shared it with their delighted followers who couldn't help but commend Matthew for making his grandmother look and feel good, especially at a time when spirits were down.

They eventually coined a term for the salon day, which they called "Fresh Fluff Wednesday."

Living Their Best Lives Together

Seeing how much "salon day" made grandma Bobbe happy, Matthew continued to do it once a week, and they eventually coined a term for it: "Fresh Fluff Wednesday."

When asked how Matthew made her feel, Bobbe said, "He made me beautimous!" Since then, Matthew has used the term to represent his grandmother but gives it a unique twist by instead saying, "Beautimus."

Unfortunately, grandma Bobbe passed away in 2021, and it was the most difficult thing that Matthew had to go through. However, he was comforted by the fact that he was able to give his grandma the best two years of her life, having lived with him and experiencing so many special memories together.

"Fresh Fluff Wednesday" was just a small part of the wonderful life that grandma Bobbe lived with her grandson. They spent a lot of time together and made precious memories doing things they both enjoyed. What a priceless, special bond!
