Shayne Audra Murphy Was Once Urged to Follow in Her Parents' Footsteps into Modeling & Acting

Shayne was born on October 10, 1994, to Eddie Murphy and his then-wife Nicole Mitchell Murphy. She graduated from college in 2018 and is the former couple's fifth child. While in her teens, Shayne was urged to follow in her parent's footsteps and become an actress and model.

At the time, Shayne's sister, Bria Murphy's manager, had spotted her talent and wanted her to try acting and modeling. Bria's manager Jerome Martine met Shayne at an event and said she had all the qualities to become a successful model and actress, but that path didn't work out for her.

Even though a career in the entertainment industry didn't work for Shayne, the 28-year-old still embraces the limelight that comes from her parent's fame and posts her lifestyle to her significant number of Instagram followers.

Shayne has her mother's support; after she opened her Instagram cooking account, her mother helped her promote the page by giving her a special shoutout on her IG page.

In her cooking account, Shayne posts videos and photos of mouthwatering meals she makes. In one of her posts, she shared a video of her trying a delicious recipe from Leah Chase's cookbook and captioned it:

"I'm still mentally in New Orleans. Here's two recipes I brought home with me from Leah Chase's cookbook! Baked catfish with artichoke and cheese (trout also works), and tomatoes stuffed with buttery shrimp! A juicier alternative to stuffed peppers."

Growing up in a well-known family, Shayne has been used to the spotlight since she was a child. As a kid, Shayne would attend red-carpet events with her famous parents; even now, as an adult, Shayne still accompanies her family to various high-profile events.

For instance, in 2016, Shayne and her father attended the debut gallery opening of Bria Murphy's "Subconscious," held at Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions. Also, on July 25, 2016, Shayne and her family attended the comedy film "Amateur Night" premiere, in which her sister Bria Murphy who wedded in 2022, had a starring role as Jaxi.

But despite her family's fame, Shayne shared a glimpse of how she and her siblings grew up at home. In a Twitter post, the 28-year-old related her upbringing to a viral video that showed siblings getting disciplined after fighting.

She said that when growing up, her mom would do the same thing whenever she and her siblings fought. In another Twitter post, Shayne shared a short clip showing black dolls and said that her white grandmother used to buy her white cousins' black dolls.
