Sir Rod Stewart has been named one of the wealthiest musicians with a career spanning six decades. The British native is reportedly worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Stewart was born Roderick David Stuart in London in 1945 and is the youngest of five kids. Growing up, he had hobbies, including soccer and building railways.

He only developed an interest in music in the 1960s when he learned how to play the harmonica and, later, the piano. When he was 15, he dropped out of school, intending to become a professional soccer player.

However, when that dream failed to materialize, Stewart opted for music, and his first gig as an artist came when he joined an R&B group in London called, The Dimensions in October 1963. He was a harmonica player and a singer for the band.

In the subsequent years, the rocker joined more music groups and made a name for himself as he became known by his moniker, Rod The Mod, because of his punk-rock music style and look.

He later signed a deal with Mercury Records and pursued a solo career. Stewart made waves in 1971 with his album, Every Picture Tells a Story, which contained his hit songs, including "Maggie May" and "Reason to Believe." After catching his big break, he moved to Los Angeles in 1975.

Throughout his impeccable career, Stewart has released 12 number-one albums and 11 number-one singles in both the United Kingdom and the United States.

He was named No. 33 in Q magazine's Top 100 Singers of All Time and featured on the Sunday Times Rich list multiple times. Stewart's net worth is reportedly approximately $263.97 million.

Despite being in his late seventies, the singer-songwriter is still releasing music. His wife, Penny Lancaster, revealed what he hates the most about his job as a public figure in September 2015:

"It's the worst part of the job for Rod, having his photo taken, so when the wife is there, I get a bit of a glint."

Stewart Has a Laid-Back Family Home Life

Although he is an international superstar, Stewart makes time for his big family. In November 2021, he posted a clip of him and his loved ones having a blast in the kitchen while doing the dishes.

The Stewart family could be seen clearing up the kitchen while dancing to a song in the background. "Sundays are for family!" wrote the family patriarch on his Instagram.

In the video, he said, "We've had a lovely Sunday dinner tonight. This is my daughter. She's clearing up. Here are my two sons. They're all clearing up. We're a family. And my lovely wife cooked the dinner. And if you want the secret to dinner? Have we had a drink or two? Yes, we have."

Making sure that everyone tidies up the house comes as no surprise, as Stewart previously revealed that he could not stand a messy environment:

"I'm pretty good around the house. I like a tidy house. Penny is really untidy. I do wash dishes, and I go, 'I bet Elton or Bruce Springsteen don't do this.' We have got staff but I do like to go and do it."

Stewart also helps with preparing meals at home. In November 2019, he shared a clip of himself peeling potatoes in the dining room and said everyone in the household was tasked with helping out for the Christmas feast. "Merry Christmas!" he captioned his post.

The "Sailing" singer and his spouse, Lancaster, divide their time between Los Angeles and Essex. The mom of two said she wants the couple's two sons, Aiden and Alastair, not to take their privileged life for granted:

"They have to do chores around the house to earn money and save up. They need to understand that our lifestyle is not the norm."

According to Lancaster, the kids' father reportedly looks like a sight for sore eyes with his glasses on. The English model divulged that her husband insisted on sporting cheap ready-to-wear specs at the supermarket and explained that he is self-conscious about his age:

"He says, 'That's what old men do.' So, instead, he has at least four sets of spectacles around the house and car, so he can find a pair if he suddenly needs to write a song. "

Lancaster noted that it is a shame that her spouse has settled for "cheap glasses" from such stores, which can negatively affect his eyes.

Despite having bad eyesight, Stewart makes it his mission to be of public service in his hometown. In March 2022, he helped fill potholes outside his Essex estate and shared a clip while shoveling grovel on the street.

The road maintenance issue hits home for the pop-rock legend as he complained about not being able to drive through the damaged road with one of his cars. Stewart disclosed that people have ruined their vehicles by going through the apparent pothole and that residents decided to fix it themselves:

"The other day, there was an ambulance with a burst tire. My Ferrari can't go through here at all."

Stewart is so hands-on at his residence that he cleans his garage whenever possible. In March 2020, he posted pictures of himself holding a paint container on his property and penned:

"Taking this time at home to have a clear out of the garage."

Although he opted to get down and dirty for the spring cleaning, the "Ooh La La" singer did it in style by donning an all-white outfit featuring a tank top with white-washed denim jeans.

No matter the task, Stewart does not stop being his authentic self, and his fans love that about him. They commented on his post and expressed their admiration for his style while cleaning.

"Only Rod Stewart would clean up a garage wearing white," one Instagram user wrote alongside a thumbs-up emoji. Another complimented the musician's fashion sense, "Sir Rod, white to clear out the garage, love your style."

A third social media user mentioned that it is extraordinary for Stewart to be doing that, "So fabulous cleaning out the garage in all white." In contrast, one person asked, "Wearing white?" alongside a laughing emoji.

Stewart Is a Father of Eight Kids

Stewart has eight children with five different women. He shares his first child, daughter Ruby, with his ex-lover model, Kelly Emberg, and has another daughter, Sara Streeter, with his former girlfriend, Susannah Boffey. However, the former couple gave up their child for adoption, who was raised by her adoptive parents, Evelyn and Gerald Thubron.

The Grammy Award winner later welcomed daughter Kimberly and son Sean with his first wife, actress Alana Stewart – whom he was married to from 1979 to 1984.

Stewart welcomed two more kids, Renee and Liam, with his second wife, model Rachel Hunter. The couple was married from 1990 to 2006. He now has two young sons, Aiden and Alastair, with his third wife, Lancaster, with whom he has been married since 2007.

In December 2011, the Stewart family experienced a medical emergency when then-11-year-old Aiden was rushed to the hospital under the suspicion that he had suffered a heart attack. He collapsed following a soccer match.

The doting dad recounted when his son turned "blue and unconscious" while playing for his Young Hoops Under-12s team. He called an ambulance, and Aiden regained consciousness.

The family later learned that young Aiden had a "panic attack" instead - in what his father deemed a "scary" situation at the time.

Moreover, Stewart is a grandfather to Delilah del Toro, who his daughter Kimberly welcomed with actor Benicio De Toro in 2011. In January 2023, he proudly announced that he would be a grandfather again.

The Hall of Famer revealed that his daughter Ruby and her partner, Jack Kalick, would have their first baby in April 2023. The elated mom to be confirmed the news with a video of an ultrasound on her Instagram page.

"Out of all the things that happened in 2022, you were by far the most beautiful. We can't wait to meet you. Baby boy Kalick coming in April," Ruby penned on her post alongside a white heart emoji.
