Liam Costner Lived with Stepdad & Got a 'Sizable Trust' from Kevin Costner

Liam Costner's Father Tried to Make Things Right after His Birth

After Liam's birth, his father did not immediately acknowledge him as a son. His father reportedly did not show interest either when his mother was pregnant, but as time passed, things changed.

Rooney later demanded a paternity test that proved Kevin was Liam's real father. Only then did he claim Liam as his son. Kevin set a sizable trust fund in Liam's name to make it up to his boy. However, his gesture did not keep their relationship stable.

Liam would only get occasional visits from his dad, but from the beginning of her pregnancy, Rooney made it clear that she would have her child with or without Kevin. She said:

"I'm 34 years old, and I'm fortunate to have a baby. I didn't even think of the A word, only the B word."

Liam Costner Grew up in a Colonial House with Billionaire Stepfather and Stepsiblings

Although not always with his biological father, Liam grew up in a home with a father figure. Liam's mother soon fell in love and married William Koch, a wealthy investor, and yachtsman.

Liam moved into his new home with his stepfather and stepsiblings, Charlotte, William, and Robin, all from Koch's previous relationships. Growing up, Liam lived in a 36,000-square-foot three-story residence on a four-acre land.

Their home was undoubtedly massive, and the family had to use intercoms to communicate with household members. Inside the mansion were furniture and art pieces that amounted to over $100 million.

Like most kids, Liam had antics up his sleeves during parties and would hide under the table to grab the napkins from guests. Liam also liked doing stunts on furniture, which made his mother nervous during the first year of their move. Rooney said:

"There was an ancient bust of Caligula outside Liam's room, and the first year we were together, I was sure it was going to fall over."

Liam Costner & His Older Siblings Were Jealous of Their Dad's Younger Kids

Liam's role as the youngest son of Kevin ended when the actor had three children with Christine Baumgartner. Unfortunately, the older kids began to question their father's love for them as compared to his feelings for the younger children.

However, Kevin tried letting his kids understand they were all loved. For his older kids, he noted that they had twice as much time spent with their dad as their younger siblings.

Despite Liam's rough relationship with his dad initially, their relationship was stable. Kevin claimed that his kids, including Liam, were raised with love and care.

Kevin was first married to fellow actress Cindy Silva in 1978. Together, they had three children, Annie Costner, Lily Costner, and Joe Costner. The couple's marriage eventually ended in divorce in 1994.

Two of their three children followed in the entertainment industry. Lily Costner also became an actress, although she has an incredible voice to support her singing career. Meanwhile, Joe Costner worked behind the scenes and became an audio engineer and production sound mixer.
