John Cena's first wife, Elizabeth Huberdeau, was a star in her own right in the real estate business. Sadly, their three-year marriage ended when the wrestler suddenly filed for a divorce.

Elizabeth Huberdeau's name came to light across media platforms after she was linked to John Cena, a famous WWE wrestler-turned-actor.

Unlike her husband, the Massachusetts native did not have a career in the entertainment industry. However, she thrived in real estate as an agent, developer, and businesswoman.

Most commonly called Liz Cena, John's wife made headlines when they tied the knot. Unfortunately, their marriage was plagued with challenges. After three years as husband and wife, the wrestler filed for a divorce.

Unfortunately, Cena wasn't always honest about the reason behind his divorce. In 2012, he made Huberdeau believe that their arguments amidst remodeling their home became the problem.

Before their union ended, the couple had arguments over their home remodeling. Huberdeau, who attended Springfield College and majored in business management, is a private person, though her feelings about their split became known.

After Three Years, Liz Huberdeau and John Cena's Marriage Fell Apart

Cena and Huberdeau were high school sweethearts who watched each other grow up and succeed in their careers. They tied the knot in 2009 during an intimate wedding ceremony in Boston, Massachusetts.

While many rooted for the couple, their short-lived marriage ended in 2012 when Cena chose to leave his wife. According to TMZ, Huberdeau was "blindsided when Cena unexpectedly filed to end their three-year marriage." She initially thought that the wrestler was leaving her due to his infidelity.

However, the reason for the divorce became clearer after six years. While it wasn't a woman who took over Cena's heart, his love for his career moved him to become single again. In 2018, Huberdeau's ex reportedly said:

"I have made [WWE] my absolute life. I don't have a family. I tried marriage once, and I realized my WWE marriage was the one that was going to survive."

John Cena Once Said That Their House Remodeling Was the Problem

Unfortunately, Cena wasn't always honest about the reason behind his divorce. In 2012, he made Huberdeau believe that their arguments amidst remodeling their home became the problem. He claimed the disputes caused fights that could not be resolved nor tolerated.

A document later showed that the contractors filed a $110,000 lien for the house as Cena reportedly failed to pay his debt. Huberdeau and her ex-husband did not publicize their divorce settlement and managed to keep their personal lives out of the press. It also appears that they have since been on good terms.

While Cena continued his career under the spotlight, Huberdeau has lived privately and does not share details of her personal life with the public. She has since moved on with her life and reportedly found love again.

Their breakup happened only weeks before their reported wedding. Theories about their split soon made their way to the press, including their differences regarding having children.

Huberdeau reportedly walked away from her marriage with a significant settlement deal. Since Huberdeau never had children with her first husband, their divorce became easier to process.

After Divorce, John Cena Had a "WWE Marriage"

Cena had also moved on from his marriage to Huberdeau. Shortly after his divorce, he was seen with fellow professional wrestler Nikki Bella. In the same year as his separation, Cena and Bella started dating.

However, their relationship had its pros and cons from the beginning. In 2013, Bella moved into Cena's home, but not before she signed a 75-page contract that stipulated her immediate vacate of his home should they break up. During her reality show, "Total Bellas," Nikki said:

"I just don't understand it. I just don't know what to feel. I'm so confused. It kind of makes me second-guess where John and I stand in our relationship. I love John, but maybe he knows that he doesn't want to be with me forever?"

One particular term that upset Bella was when she was referred to as a guest. Cena reportedly wrote that he does not want a misunderstanding as Bella moves in with him.

He reportedly wrote, "In the event that I ask you to vacate the home, you agree to immediately vacate the home and remove any and all items you have brought into the home as soon as possible."

Their drama-filled relationship lasted five years before Cena proposed to Bella on live television. She stood before 75,000 Wrestlemania 33 fans. John Cena and Nikki Bella called off their engagement in their sixth year together.

Their breakup happened only weeks before their reported wedding. Theories about their split soon made their way to the press, including their differences regarding having children. While Cena did not want kids, Bella hoped to be a mother.

The couple's relationship may not have flourished, but other WWE couples succeeded in walking down the aisle, including Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, who tied the knot in 2021.

Another successful marriage happened when WWE legend, The Undertaker, whose birth name is Mark William Calaway, married Michelle McCool. Like Cena and Bella, WWE stars Dexter Lumis, and Indi Hartwell also had an on-screen engagement and wedding during an episode of "WWE NXT."
