Duke Keaton Is Diane Keaton's Son She Adopted at Birth & Now Lives Privately

Duke Keaton is one of the reasons why motherhood became such a wonderful feeling for his proud mom Diane Keaton. The legendary Hollywood actress is a mother of two wonderful children.

Duke's mom is a single parent to two adopted children, the other being Duke's older sister, Dexter. The desire to become a mother came in Diane's later stages, but it seems like it was worth the wait for the 77-year-old, who had her first child at 50.

With Duke in her life, the mother-son duo appears to have a very close relationship. Despite preferring to keep his personal life private, Duke's mother usually shares pictures of him on her social media, showing the love she has for Duke and the joy that motherhood brings her.

Duke Keaton's Arrival Completed His Family

Despite having been in romantic relationships with several Hollywood stars, Duke's mother never married and had no children. This was the case until 1996 when the then 50-year-old decided to adopt her first child, daughter Dexter Keaton.

Duke's mom claims that her father's death had a profound effect on her as it gave her a sense of mortality and aroused her desire to become a mother. Five years after the adoption of Dexter, she became a mother of two after adopting a son whom she named Duke. Duke became her last child, her final piece of the puzzle.

A proud single mother, Diane has epitomized the statement, "It's better late than never," as she firmly took the responsibility of being a parent. The legendary actress expressed her appreciation for being a mother by referring to it as a humbling experience and saying it made her a better person. She added:

"I think it puts you in your place because it really forces you to address the issues that you claim to believe in. I mean, we can sit here and talk, but it's another thing to act that way in your life… You really have to be your best self, always, and be honest."

Duke Keaton Is Not Often Seen in Public

Although he is the son of one of Hollywood's most popular and longest-serving members, Duke prefers to keep out of the public eye. He rarely accompanies his mother to public events. One of those rare occasions was when they attended Diane's footprint and handprint cement ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in LA.

For the glorious event, Duke seemed comfortable, smiling while posing for photos on the red carpet. He rocked a semi-formal look, consisting of a dark-colored dotted shirt and loose jeans. Although he does not seem very open to mingling with Hollywood stars, he once shared a photo with Rita Ora and Cara Delevingne.

Away from his mother's celebrity environment, Duke appears to have a normal life, as seen in a video showing him hanging out with his friend. The boys are seen going through a hilarious cooking session with eggs and doughnuts.

Duke Keaton's Mother Showers Him with Love on Social Media

It has been established that Diane is a proud mother and frequently demonstrates that through her social media posts. The mother of two showcases her children, on most occasions, through some hilarious and loving blast from the past photos.

Some of the never-seen-before childhood pictures of Duke were incorporated into a dedication video for his birthday on February 8, 2022. In one of the photos, Duke is seen attending his older sister's wedding alongside his mother and brother-in-law, Jordan White.

In addition, a Christmas video posted by Diane Keaton in 2021 shows various pictures of the actress with her two children. The youngest member of their family, Duke, is seen in one of the snaps, looking like he is crying. Another noticeable feature of the picture was his outgrowing, hugely spaced baby teeth.

Diane adopted Duke while he was still very young, and the two appear to have established a strong bond. On one occasion, they interacted publicly on Duke's Instagram when she included her name at the end of a comment on his post. He comically responded to it, saying, "I love that someone else's mother signs their name to their comment."
