Zachary and Wayans' relationship began in 1992. "I will forever celebrate the day I met you," he wrote in an Instagram caption. Although they have been in each other's lives ever since, the couple never married.

Wayans agreed with the sentiment that marriage was no longer a necessity in today's world. So long as he was in a relationship with love, he was content. "All that other nonsense? It's for the birds, man," he shared.

Another reason Wayans never made it down the aisle was that he wanted his mother to remain the most important woman in his life. While his mother was on her deathbed, Wayans remembered saying:

"I'm 47 years old, and I've never been married because I always wanted you to be my number one girl."

Zachary and Wayans broke up in 2013, the same year he was kissing a mystery brunette on a yacht in St Barths. The news of his vacation with the mystery woman came a month after Wayans confirmed that he and Zachary were in a relationship during his appearance on "The Wendy Williams Show."

Zachary and Wayans became parents for the first time in 2000 when they welcomed their daughter, Amai, on May 24. Two years later, Zachary gave birth to their son, Shawn Howell, on February 3. In 2020, Wayans took to Instagram to honor Zachary on Mother's Day and wrote:

"You are a caring, loving, sweet, intelligent, kind, fun, tough, silly, beautiful mom. You love them babies.... You're doing such a good job transitioning from mom to best friend... I'm taking notes."
