The duo met in the 10th grade and had a relationship that blossomed with time. "She is the love of my life," Michaels told Sports Illustrated. "She is just the greatest. That is the biggest piece of luck that ever came down the pike for me."

Stamaton is a fantastic wife and a loving mother to their two children, Jennifer and Steve, who grew up to be wonderful people.

The Couple Know Each Other since 15

Michaels and Stamaton have been married for over 50 years, and they continue to learn more about each other over time. Their story began decades ago when they were 15. According to the sport's veteran, Stamaton knows him best and can confidently say she hasn't seen him eat a vegetable since their meeting. Stamaton said:

"Since the day I met him—when I was 15 years old—he never had a vegetable. Not even a salad. When he was a baby, you know how you don't want your vegetables? I think his mother let him get away with it."

Nevertheless, Michaels stays healthy for his wife in other ways. He eats all kinds of fruits and takes vitamins for nutrition. Although Stamaton has different interests, she learned to love the same things as her husband, including sports. She was a big support system in her husband's career, which began in the '60s.

Michaels' career started with him working as an office boy, helping choose women who partook in "The Dating Game." Stamaton was also working on a Chuck Barris-created show, "The Newlywed," as a prize coordinator. At that time, the pair had just tied the knot in 1966.

They worked in close proximity to allow more time spent together apart from being at home. Two years later, the couple relocated to Hawaii, where Michaels called games for the Pacific Coast League's Hawaii Islanders baseball team and the University of Hawaii.

His career eventually brought him to Cincinnati and San Francisco until he signed with ABC Sports in 1977. Michaels also called in the 1980 Winter Olympics' "Miracle On Ice" hockey game, a memorable event in sports history.

Throughout the different stages in his career, Stamaton was always there for her husband. His hard work and experience have landed him several accolades, including the Ford C. Frick Award in 2021.

Despite focusing on his career, Michaels continued to nourish his relationship with Stamaton until reaching another milestone in their lives. In 2016, Michaels and Stamaton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Al Michaels and Linda Stamaton Are Parents to Two Children

Michaels and Stamaton are proud parents to two adult children, Steve Michaels and Jennifer Michaels Cohn, who are both successful in their work.

Stamaton would often dine with Simpson and Brown before the tragedy that struck their family.

Steve pursued a career as a businessman in the entertainment industry. He became Asylum Entertainment's CEO and President. The company handled productions including "Beverly Hills Pawn," "Tonya & Nancy: The Prince of Gold," "The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe," "The Kennedys," and "Happy Valley."

Besides his career, Steve is a loving husband to his wife, Sheri Michaels. The pair made Steve's parents first-time grandparents in 2001 with the birth of their daughter, Kaitlyn.

Meanwhile, Cohn followed in her father's footsteps in the sports world and became the director of corporate communications for the Game Show Network.

Linda Stamaton Was Interested in Her Husband's Career

Like Michaels, Stamaton also took an interest in sports and became a fan of the Los Angeles Kings hockey team. She reportedly attended the team's first game in 1967. Her love for the game was passed on to her children and grandchildren, including two of her grandsons who play hockey.

Stamaton also became interested in sports when the US hockey team won the Miracle On Ice Olympics game against the Soviet Union. The following day, Stamaton purchased a painting of the US team playing against the Soviets. Michaels recalled during an interview:

"She comes back to show me and says, 'Look at this. They have already painted a scene from last night's game!' I said, 'Honey, they are wearing the wrong uniforms. This is from some previous U.S.-Soviet game at a previous Olympics. We got duped.'"

In the same interview, Michaels also revealed that he and Stamaton were friends of OJ Simpson and Nicole Brown. Stamaton would often dine with Simpson and Brown before the tragedy that struck their family.

When Brown passed away, Simpson became the primary suspect. He later became a fugitive and was chased down by the police. After his trial started in 1994, Simpson was found not guilty. According to a Texas investigator, Jason Simpson, the athlete's son, was the man who supposedly killed Brown.

OJ Simpson eventually landed in prison after being guilty of other crimes in 2007. When he was finally released in 2017, his children reportedly no longer wanted to be with him.
