They remain a family, despite their split.
Ex-footballer Tom Brady and his ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, built a wonderful life together. They welcomed two children and also raised Brady's son from a previous relationship, but it all fell apart last year.
Now, Brady has retired for food, and it is clear that he remains close to his ex-wife and children, despite the couple's split, which came about after Brady not following Bündchen's wishes for him to quit his career.
On February 1, 2023, Brady took to Instagram to make an announcement he had made a few times before. He appeared on a windy beach as he videoed himself sitting and speaking to the camera.
The video consisted of Brady saying that he would be retiring for good. He mentioned this announcement would be short and sweet because, as he joked:
"You only get one super emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year."
He thanked his fans, family, teammates, and competitors before getting choked up and ending the video. The next few frames Brady shared were filled with moments from his career and pictures of his family and friends.
In the caption, he mentioned that he loved his family, teammates, friends, coaches, football, and fans. He went on to say he felt grateful as he made the post. The post was met with loving messages from colleagues and fans alike.
Some people called Brady the greatest of all time, while others mentioned how sad it would be not to see him on the football field anymore. JJ Watt joked that he could meet the other newly retired football players on the golf course.
Tom Brady Retired for Good After He 'Unretired' Last Year
This is not the first time Brady has emotionally announced that he will retire from football. In fact, he did it before and then promptly came out of retirement for a while. However, he says this time is permanent.

Last year, Brady announced that he would retire after 22 seasons. He said that while he loved the craft and enjoyed being competitive, he would focus his attention on other things.
He had previously said he would love to play until the age of 50 but retired at 44. Yet soon after he made that decision, he said he had changed his mind and wanted to play competitively for a while longer.

He played for one more season and has now hung up his cleats for good. Talking about how he felt about his career now that he has retired for good, Brady
:
"Thank you, guys, for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn't change a thing."
He also thanked everyone who had shown him support throughout his career and mentioned his family more than once. Many are saddened at his retirement but have wished him well in his new ventures.
Why Did Bündchen, His Ex-Wife and Mother of His Two Children, Want Him To Retire?
Many fan tributes have poured in for Brady since his second retirement announcement. However, the comments from those close to the ex-footballer have been the ones fans have been most focused on.
After Brady posted his video on Wednesday morning, his ex-wife took to the comments section to wish him well. She said:
“Wishing you only wonderful things in this new chapter of your life."
Although the comment was sweet, it comes after the couple went through a divorce. One of the many problems to couple faced was that Brady did not want to retire when Bündchen thought he should.
A month after Brady retired for the first time, he said he would return to football because he belonged on the field rather than among the crowd. It caused an “epic fight” between the couple, which exacerbated their other issues.
Reports say the couple had a few problems in their marriage. Still, the fight that resulted from Brady deciding not to focus his time on his family was the last straw for the former Victoria's Secret Angel.
Bündchen felt that after her always being the one there for the children, Brady should retire so he could spend more time with their children. When he did so for only one month, Bündchen filed for divorce.
Only a month after the fight happened, Brady and Bündchen confirmed, in separate statements, that their divorce had been finalized. Now, almost a year later, they remain in contact for the sake of their children.
Family Above All: Brady Is Grateful to His Ex and Children, No Matter What
When Brady and Bündchen divorced, he made it clear that they would continue co-parenting their children, Vivian and Benjamin. In his statement, Brady shared:
“We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way"”
Soon after the announcement, reports confirmed that Bündchen and Brady had separately toured a private school in Miami, which was taken as a clue that Brady would be leaving Tampa Bay.
