On November 7, 1980, Steve McQueen died aged 50 after having cancer surgery that was said to have been successful. The star was cremated with his ashes scattered in the sea.

Steve didn't only leave behind an enormous movie career; he also left children. With his first wife and dancer, Neile Adams, the star welcomed two children, a son and a daughter,

His daughter, Terry Leslie McQueen, was named after the actor whose first name was Terrence. In 1960, Steve and his wife welcomed Chadwick Steven McQueen, a former actor and race car driver.

After the actor passed, he left his 1969 Porsche-911 to Terry, but when she died in 1998, the car went to Chadwick. Steve's daughter made him a grandfather after his death when she welcomed Molly McQueen Flattery with her ex-husband, Dennis Flattery.

Her brother had three children, one with his first and now late wife, Stacey Toten, and two with his current one, Jeanie Galbraith. Steve, married thrice and loved motor racing, left behind grandchildren who would continue his legacy.

How Does Steve's Granddaughter Continue His Legacy?

Chadwick's son, Chase McQueen, was born in 1995, while his daughter, Madison McQueen, was welcomed to him and Galbraith in 1997. In 2021, it was revealed that one of Madison's strongest qualities was her courage.

That year, her late famous grandfather would've turned 91, and then 24-year-old Madison had never met him because he died long before her birth. Despite never knowing him personally, she continued with his legacy by being an actress and loving cars.

About eleven years before 2021, Chadwick founded the McQueen Racing company. He'd passed on his love for Porsches and racing to his daughter and sons long ago, and the trio would continue placing the family in the world's history.

When asked what love was, Madison said it was family and finding someone who understood you. Steve's granddaughter revealed that her most treasured possessions were the "cool stuff" her father and grandfather collected.

She also shared that her secret was that she was addicted to anything that bore the Porsche name. Her best Porsche-911 moment was when she rode shotgun with Chadwick in his 1971 Porsche 911 S/T on Thermal Raceway.

Her best advice was not to listen to negativity; she thought people wouldn't expect her to be a great driver. In 2022, Madison shared a throwback image of her late grandfather with someone else in a Porsche to mark 42 years since his death, writing:

"42 years ago today, the world lost an icon. He set the standards veryhigh with everything he did."

The star's granddaughter shared how her family appreciated the support people gave them to help keep Steve's legacy alive. She noted how the late actor would continue to live on as a "legend" and revealed that her father still had the car in the image.

In early 2023, Madison also shared a more recent picture of herself. She sat in a car wearing sunglasses and looking strikingly similar to her late grandfather.

Besides Madison, the late star also had three more beautiful grandchildren in early February 2023. The trio, like Madison, also followed in his career footsteps by joining the acting industry.

Who Are Steve's Grandchildren?

Chadwick's other child was Steven R. McQueen, whom he had with Toten in 1988. Steven once confessed that knowing that his late grandfather was a "highly respected actor" didn't necessarily intimidate him.

However, Chadwick's son admitted that it meant there was always pressure for him to live up to the late Steve's reputation. He explained that he thought that was probably the reason why acting wasn't something he considered doing as a child, but recalled when he fell in love with it, stating:

"I started watching movies my grandpa did, and I saw what an impact they made on the world. That's when I said, 'Hey, I want to do that too.'"

Steven inherited his late grandfather's good looks and became an actor because of him. He had a half-brother, Jesse/Jessarae, through his mother, and besides acting, he was skilled at ice hockey, martial arts, and horseback riding.

The multi-talented athlete also did kickboxing, and in his downtime, he enjoyed video games. He was best known for featuring in the first six seasons of "The Vampire Diaries," a show most popular among teenagers, as Jeremy Gilbert.

Chadwick's son then progressed to "Chicago Fire," where he appeared in two seasons as Jimmy Borrelli. He later starred in the spinoff series, "Chicago P.D.," but he wasn't only a great actor and athlete; he also worked as an activist.

Steven shared awareness about sea life and its protection on social media. In December 2021, two days after Christmas Day, he was seen helping to feed sea lions that were being rehabilitated by the Pacific Marine Mammal Center Mission.

The clip he shared showed him helping to clean where the animals were kept and urged people to donate to the organization to assist in the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of marine mammals. The actor also uploaded images of two jars filled with garbage and fishing lines.

He explained how seals often mistook grocery bags and garbage for jellyfish. The fishing lines in the jar were found in one seal's stomach, and the ingestion was fatal to the animal.

Chase also became an actor and was known for his roles in 2011's "Eating Out: Drama Camp" and 2019's "The Hills: New Beginnings." His Instagram account was filled with images of cars showing how he might have inherited his grandfather's love for speed and vehicles.

Terry made Steve a grandfather when she welcomed her daughter, Molly McQueen. Molly also followed in her late grandfather's footsteps by becoming an actor and working as a producer.

Losing her mother when she was young didn't mean Molly had forgotten her. In March 2018, she shared a throwback Instagram picture of herself when she was younger, posing with her mother.

In her tribute post, the actress confessed to thinking about her mother "every moment." She also said she saw Terry in everything and wished she'd gotten time to know each other better.

Molly said she knew her mother would've hated aging and was "mortified" that she'd worn the hat in the photo! However, the actress knew they would've been best friends and couldn't believe it had been 20 years since her death, before declaring her love to her "guardian angel."
